This site is ridiculous!

Never I have I seen so many database errors and site hangups before! Why not just change hosting servers? There is no excuse for this. Fix it already!

 

There's like 50,000 threads and posts on it already. Chill.

 

We are aware of the problems and are doing our best to fix them. It takes time, so please be patient.

 

More details please. Being aware of something doesn't mean your doing anything about it. We have all been aware of it for months now, so what gives?

 

I think it is maybe down to the server, and it not being able to cope with the volumes that are sometimes logged on here.

 

thats what I was thinking too......so just get a larger capacity server no?

The site is free, a large dedicated server has a cost to it.

 

I feel sorry for you mods to always take the brunt of complaints.
People just wanna know WHAT the problem really is.

 

The site owner is the only person who can fix the problems. We have to wait until she has the time to take a look and sort out the trouble.
I know its frustrating, but there isn't anything we can do.

 

That is what we ALL would like to know - the Mods would live to know so we could at least reassure you guys that the place will be fixed. But we don't have any information as yet.

 

I'm thinking handling the volume of this site isn't as easy as fixing what you have. I was on a forum that....as it got bigger....soliciting for donations and membership fees became more important because equipment and the owner's time became taxed.

I know nothing of what it takes to run this....except that experience.

Surprisingly...I'm having much fewer problems then a few months ago when I could hardly stay on.

 

I'll give 'em credit for one thing... when the site's working, it works GREAT! Really fast. In fact, sometimes it can run away with ya 'cuz you're so used to it freezing up!!

Problems seem to be narrowed down to database errors. You'd think that would be easier to solve than a host of problems like we were experiencing with people getting booted off, etc.

I'm glad the owner hasn't given up and sold the site to some outfit outta India. Now if we could just get her attention long enough to actually FIX IT!

Just a bit annoying when you take the time to respond to someone, at length, hit submit..only to get a white screen!

 

Why can't PoliticalForum.com come to his/her own site and post something about it? I mean wouldn't that be te prudent thing to do so that his/her members have an inkling of knowledge that the owner is actually working on it. Maybe even explain in depth a little?

It will come down to the server, that is what will be causing the crashes, imo.

Seen it happen on high traffic sites before.

How many tend to be logged on here at peak times?

The only answer is a dedicated server.

With that comes a cost.

I don't think you should make people pay to post on the net, but maybe a small donation, if it would 100% assist with stability of service?

 

The problem is not the server. Political Forum IS on a dedicated server.
The problem is the huge database. It is corrupted and needs to be cleansed.

Ya know , I got back home today from the hospital , first thing I did was to call a few relatives and a few friends to let them know I was back home ...

The second thing I did was to log in to PF , and let people know I was still alive and still kicking ..

I have had more trouble with AT&T than I ever have had with PF ..

I know at times PF is slow to load , but it's my home , and I support PF with my dollars , and I know PF is not perfect , but it's close enough for me .

Maybe y'all are just trying to find fault , I don't know . Are you ? It's a fair question..

Maybe the owner will get a new server , I hope so , but it takes $$$ , so maybe rather than pliss & moan , maybe y'all should help out with a few bucks $$$ towards that effort ..

PF means a lot to me , I don't know the owner , but I'm believing that PF means as much to her as it does to me , at least , I sure hope so.

TheHat , the PF Owner is already here , among us ... I've got my own ideas as to who it is , but I won't say ... and I never would , even if I knew for sure , but I'll hazzard a guess and say you'd be supprised .

But I will say this much , if the Owner was to come out and say , it wouldn't help this site any , because everyone would be sending pm's to the owner , and I'm persuaded to believe that the owner enjoys a certain amount of privacy which would be lost if we knew who the owner was.. and that's all I'll ever say about it ..

It does not take months to fix a website. Obviously the "powers that be" are not trying at all.

 

Oh that's bull(*)(*)(*)(*), I am active on a number of forums that don't even ask for "donations", and they all run smooth as silk.
