Well, if the owner of the site has a job, that takes up all her time, doesn't it? So she can only get to this place when there is time.

 

Nope, doesn't fly. Every forum owner I know has a day job. With a site of this success and magnitude, that's a lame excuse.

I will say this though, that success won't last forever. Eventually people will get sick of the lame excuses, and traffic will dwindle.

 

If it bothers you, leave.

Um, the owner has his/her own name, politicalforum.com, that he/she posts under once in a blue moon. You can send messages if you want. I doubt they would be answered, considering said owner won't even come here to talk about this issue which has been going on for well over 3 months.

 

I find shouting helps.

 

The first two times I tried to see this thread I was stopped by database base errors...LOL They want your donation so they can make the data base errors faster....

 

Well, you have a point there. Try being a mod or an advisor and have these errors come up when we are trying to address member issues. It's very frustrating.

The site owner has asked us for donations for months and I am fairly sure it is the cost to maintain this site.

I am just glad it hasn't dropped off the internet. In the meantime, I would recommend making a pb & j sandwich while we wait.

In a more serious reply to this thread and remain on topic , when I first logged on tonight , PF was very slow to load , several data base error msgs , I spent probably 25 minutes replying with a pm to a friend , and when I sent it , poof , it was lost in PF web-dom , , I don't appreciate that , it made me quite angry , in fact... I spend a lot of time with what I post , and what graphics I use , it's takes time to do that , as a matter of fact , I'm unique on PF , nobody else spends the time I do on their posts ,, every post I make is unique ,,, it's why I'm not a Guru yet ...

I just found it somewhat ironic that on the same day I received an award from PF for going over the $100.00 donation mark I couldn't even send a thank you in reply because for some reason , PF was frozen.

 

I typed a 20 minute reply to a post last night...it took 20 minutes to research the facts I was presenting anyway and copy/pasting them into the post.

Hit send...and "database error"

Frustrating but after years of model building, I've seen 20 hours of labor get turned
to junk in an instant, so 20 minutes wasted isn't a big deal.

Taking a lesson form Buddhist monks and sand painting...these monks devote hour upon hour of creating
intricate sand paintings only to mix it all up again...learning a valuable lesson in the temporary
and fragile nature of our existence.

but I digress...

Such is life, I still think this is one of the better boards out there, but I have noticed
a drop off in activity and getting a conversation going. Most of the regulars I know from
years of posting are gone or rarely post. Seems harder to get a topic going with any
regularity now. I'm guessing this is a by-product of folks getting tired of the database errors
or simply got bored with message boards.

 

When that happens, Use the Back button in your browser, and you should be able to find the stuff you typed. Copy it to notepad, and try it later.

 

I tried that and refresh, but the database error screen stayed in place;
even went into History and tried to bring up the post.

Being the father figure here, I'll need to see two forms of photo I.D., we'll conduct a criminal background check, a drug test, look at your latest credit report and I'll need at least 3 references...before I'll allow Makedde to exchange personal information.

 

The back button would've taken you back to the posting interface, and everything you had just typed. You could've waited a bit and tried again, or copy and pasted it into notepad for posting later.

 

I think we would make a good couple. We both love cats, we are young, caring, compassionate, and I have similarities to Macgyver as I once escaped handcuffs with a toothpick.

 

Doesn't always work that way. About half the time, once you get the DB error, you've lost everything.

That's what makes it so challenging to post on this forum. You never really know when something you've worked hard to put together will live long enough to be posted.

There was a DB error this morning between 6:30-7 a.m. Can't possibly be because too many people are online. Hell, half this crew isn't even awake at that time of the day!

 

I'm usually getting home at about 0630

I have never experienced any of these database errors or the logging out thing that people have been complaining about. HARUMPH.
