Is your definition of "high powered" rational?

They are lower powered rifles. Can you imagine what big fgame hunting rifles can do? The round fired by the standard AR-15 isn't even powerful enough to be legal to hunt big game in most US states.

Compared to handguns, yes, they are more powerful. Pistols still seem powerful enough to kill humans.

    ONE BIG LOUD LOL!!!! auiqs.jpg.gif

So you call it a conspiracy theory but then run away?! Can't you back your argument?

    What conspiracy theory?
Did you bother to look at the actual facts, I'm not talking about what MSM sprayed on our TVs.

    How intelligent was he then?
Had he ever fired a rifle before the event? No.
How do you manage the kind of kill shots when firing from the hip, holding two weapons mind you?
What was his motivation, being that most mass murderers are quite intelligent, but Martin Bryant is not?

How is a numpty any of the above attributes?
Bryant had fun playing with his belly button. Sounds like he fits the above-quoted profile, not.

well I call bullshit on your claimed motivation. There is no debating those who say they want to take from us what we own. We will keep them and you cannot have them. pure and simple

    You enjoy that.

We don't tolerate that b.s attitude here in Australia. Point of the thread.

yeah a fascist state with subservient sheep vs Citizens who are well armed and won't put up with a nanny state trying to disarm them. I prefer the latter

It's a great country and relatively safe. We are the state. Glad the government that we voted in did what we wanted them to do.

If you ever visit I'm sure you'll have a nice time. you can leave your gun at home though. Thanks

You could visit here and have a great time, as long as you stay out of a few counties. Come out ti Colorado and I'll let you shoot all of the guns you can't back home.

I have no interest in my money supporting Australia. One of my students was the defending world crossbow champion (shooting a bow that was mainly made in Australia by a guy named John Clark (AUSBOW industries). He didn't defend his title in Australia because your idiotic laws required the US Team (defending gold medalists-NONE ATTENDED) to fly all the way to Perth (the only port of entry where they could bring their target crossbows) which was on the other side of the country as the tournament-making the cost outrageous since they then had to fly back to other side of the country

How many schools will you have to alter in America and at what cost? And how do we identify the ones going to become mass shooters?

How long would it take to repeal the Second, get a progressive majority on the Court and confiscate 350 million guns? It took Australia 20 years to get to 80% confiscation.

For those who wish to be more aware of what happened in Port Arthur 27 years ago, here are some interesting facts that the media and bureaucrats failed to highlight.

Two points out of 17 are identified as such...

An interesting read of hidden facts.

From my observations, some choose to dismiss any alternate reality other than the one manifested for them by the media. As anything alternate is just conspiracy theories to protect them from the harsh truth. But for many events, it's these kinds of facts that deliberately get brushed under the carpet so no one would question the narratives.

Well, that is ridiculous, if true.

Nevertheless, if you want to hold a grudge against the entire country because of that, that's your problem.

I guess my post from a month ago is relevant here.

Ya’ll better focus on societal issues that cause kids to wish to shoot up people or you will be fighting a losing battle.

It's not a dodge it's the political reality that gun control advocates are trying to push on us.

We have 130,000 public and private K-12 schools in the US. You can use any estimate you'd like for cost of materials and labor and for how long it would take to implement.

I'd guess it would take significantly less time than trying to confiscate enough guns. It took Australia 20byears to get to 700,000.

I have always maintained that it is societal/cultural issues PLUS easy access to guns that has allowed shootings in the US to balloon. I don't think there are enough guns for this to become an issue in Australia, even with social fractures. We don't have easy access to the 'fun guns' - semi-automatics - which may contribute to the lack of a mainstream 'gun culture'. It would be very rarely that an Australian thinks to grab their gun.

Further, I wonder if the significant difference between the US and Australia is that guns in Australia are treated moreso as a tool and with a relatively more cautious reverence, whereas in the US they appear to have become a common commodity like a TV remote - that you can purchase at the corner store and chuck in your underwear draw. Familiarity & easy access means they are much more readily reached for when (any sort of) issue arises.

    "Allowed shootings to balloon"?

You should track the homicide rate in the US from 1986 to 2019. We added 250 million guns, about ten times the population of Australia, and saw our homicide rate drop over 40%.

Ballooned since the birth of your nation.

The number of shootings you have in the US is obscene.

I don't think that the data goes back that far.

Should we allow the government to ignore the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and SCOTUS to reduce those numbers?

I guess it's up to the American people the approach you take. Yelling at each other across the Grand Canyon doesn't seem to have worked.
