This reminds me of an Aleister Crowley quote. "Do what thou will shalt be the whole of the law. Love is the law, love under will."

    For some it is.
The creator of the thread will take any chance he can, to insult Christians.
In this case it also involved a gay boy... so basically... a mother lode.

No more disrespectful than your use of the term homophobic.

There's a difference between insulting Christianity and insulting Christians. Not all Christians completely follow Christianity; there's lots of them that are great people, but if you actually read the bible you'll find that Christianity is backwards, barbaric, and worthy of insult. There's a separation between the people and the ideology.

You follow Christianity quite well, I might add.

That's not disrespectful, it's a pretty accurate name.

As defined by a homosexual who sits online denouncing Christians, fighting over the female name of a boy, while blaming the parents, the therapist, me, and most others on his choice to step in front of a truck......

That opinion of Christianity is one I would gladly try to exemplify.

How does this turn into a cry fest about words people don't like to be called?

Not crying. Just not putting up with being disrespected this way anymore. I've watched the forum steadily deteriorate from a place of thoughtful discussion into little more than trolls trolling each other with one-liners and name-calling. People seem to be increasingly incapable of expressing their disagreement without personalizing the debate, resorting to pettiness, trying to provoke an angry response, etc. Not to mention outright lying about their opponents.

    I'm not having it anymore.

why? up until recently they'd raised a son. loved a son. yes he was the same person after, but you can't expect everyone to adjust at the speed the subject demands they do. that's unrealistic and selfish. the parents would have come around eventually, most do. I think this kid was extremely selfish - regarding giving the parents time to adjust, and by involving an innocent truck driver who's life is now ruined.

having said that, I don't agree with the parents forcing him into church based conversion therapy or whatever they did.

Of course they don't. But telling somebody that is suicidal, "don't kill yourself" isn't that effective.

the idea is to see mental illness coming and nip it in the bud before it gets to this.

there are those whose position is that mental illnesses of the sort which can lead to self harm ought not be treated. apparently, acknowledging the presence of mental illness is unkind.

Well, the current state of medical science is to pump them up with female hormones, cut off the offending male bits and construct artificial female bits. Problem is, it doesnt do a thing to reduce the prevalence of suicide. His parents could have been supportive and understanding, he could have already begun the medical process of transitioning to a female, and he would have been just as likely to have ended his own life.

Thanks for so clearly demonstrating the gay activists heterophobia and irrational hatred.

So 2 wrongs make a right? And if you don't like the appropriate label, then act to distance yourself from it.

I would say that his parents were supportive and understanding. He was a boy and was treated as such.

You also nailed it that removal of the offensive male organs does not reduce the attempted suicide rate.

These people have mental illnesses and need to be treated, not placated.

I don't hate straight people. Literally nothing about my comment suggests hatred of straight people. My hatred is directed at bigots, and this hatred is completely rational, given that they're bigoted.

Suicide is the product of mental health problems, which are themselves the product of genetic predispositions and environmental stressors. Happy people don't just wake up and kill themselves.

Do you really think that Leelah would have killed herself if she had an accepting and supportive family?

Technically I'm bisexual, and I'm arguing over the sociopolitical impact of one Trans suicide. I blame society as a whole and the homophobic power structures within it for Leelah's suicide, though all of those things are good examples of manifestations of those power structures. Phrasing is important.

Fascism and gay activism have nothing to do with one another. Campaigning against gay rights is inherently homophobic because it has the goal of discriminating against LGBT people.

Define 'happy'. And then consider the fact that Leelah could have had other issues that no one here knows about. Do you think Leelah is the only person to go though this? Of course the answer is no. Yet others endure and never kill themselves and in fact are stronger for the experience.

Experiences like this don't make people stronger, they just make them numb or jaded at best, bitter and hurt at worst.

Everyone dislikes bigots, but some people try to reach out to the bigots to bring them up to better ways, while others have such hard hearts that they simply hate and condemn - and that's what we see here, judging people bigots and crucifying them when you know nothing about the truth of the matter.

What do you really know? All you have are some lightweight articles by biased media who see "transgender teen kills himself", a note from the teen being promoted by a gay activist, and that's it.

And that's it - a suicide note and "transgender" and you and all the rest think you know the case so well you can rabble rouse to have the parents persecuted socially and legally.

That's simple brutal prejudice, all that's left is to put on your pink robe and hood and string the parents up from a tree.

Maybe, maybe not. Many suicides occur despite supportive families and competent mental health care. Its despicable to put all the blame on the parents, for all you know the parents were supportive and did the best they could - and a note complaining about parents from the mentally and emotionally upset teen is hardly objective and certainly expected. The only people who truly know the situation are the people directly and personally involved - and that's it. Not you, not me, nobody in the media, nobody on this forum.
