I'm not doubting you, I've just never heard of such thing in high school English class, which also tells me you're probably in a different part of the country. I wouldn't want the school discussing such contraversial things with my kids.

I read the entire article, including the parts you left out of the OP.

I can understand that. I'm well-known in the community and trusted among the parents. I'm very careful not to push my views on the kids. I refuse to even let them know what they are. That's something very important to me. I want them to learn how to look at all sides of an issue and make their own decisions about it.

I know a lot of teachers because my wife was one and now is a director of a private school. Teachers looking the other way with bullies seems about as believable as the world being flat. I call BS. It is against everything in their blood. I don't buy it for a second.

Sounds more like a case of crazy parents claiming that if any of the other kids were confused it was considered bullying. Sort of like plenty of parents I know who think their kids are brilliant while they eat glue. It's mostly delusion and denial. It to say this kid thinks he's a she. I live near the famous one with the reality show. Seen her out in public with the cameras once.

There is a difference between high school classes and an open internet forum.

That wasn't your argument. You argued it isn't a current event... while posting in a current events forum.

Well that is certainly what I read they had to pretend this boy was a girl, that could be pretty abusive to youngs minds like that.

It's not really, but we discuss it on this forum. If I was an educator of minors, this wouldn't be a current event. Neither would the sex scandals and Russia conspiracies. It's all about common sense and your audience.

Because I'm not the parents of 8 year old transgenders? yeah, makes it kind of obvious I'm not California.

Are you talking about the how they discussed "ceasing to use gender groupings in physical education activities"? The article states it was discussed. Did it happen? I can't find anything in the article referring to the school implementing it. And I don't see how that's forcing the children to pretend anything.

I'm trans-species, and dogs pee in public.

I am offended by your caninist attempt to push me to the back of the doghouse and deny me my canine rights, including the right to pee on your leg if warranted.

I'd say more, but I have to go bark at the cable guy...

Because of California law the school might as well file from bankruptcy and shut down.

    Some good points.

It's not at all clear that the kid was "abused" into thinking s/he's whatever, but I also feel that the school's rules are fair and clear, and maybe the parents should go Montessori or somewhere else if they want the rules bent.

And they should not get a thin dime, but be forced to pay the school's legal fees.

I am of the opinion that instances of GENUINE gender dysphoria (vs insane fashionable BS) remain quite rare, and that it's up to the parents to explain - among other things - that life may not always seem or be fair, and that the child wanted to be a pirate last week, which was also not something that could be accommodated outside of play time...

    Who knows.

It might be screwy parents, and it might not be.

But schools shouldn't be vulnerable to BS lawsuits like this.

Seems appropriate for high school. Elementary school maybe not so much.

Telling a male that it's male isn't bullying.

Everyone at this school should resign, close down the school, sell their houses, and move to a state that isn't insane.

Sure, except isn't specific about what the bully and harassment. Maybe you're right, and I'd agree, but the article is unclear on that.
