Exactly. And as you pointed out, Trump was not critical of Fauchi, he was critical of the reportage which misrepresented the truth of the matter.

    CRITICAL THINKING

Quote: Fauci said we "could have" saved lives if we acted earlier even though Fauci said on February 29th (44 days ago) that no one needs to change behavior "right now".

Quote: Fauci said "there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down"

Now, let's move beyond (Fauci said on February 29th)

Question; From Mar 1st until Trump finally saw the light on, (Mar 15), were there a lot of pushbacks about shutting things down?

First, for anyone's info, Canada's nation-wide/non-essential lockdowns/stay-home, occurred ONE week before our non-essential lockdowns gradually, and eventually increased from 40% to 90%. In other words, their drastic surge of jobless claims occurred ONE week before our drastic surge of jobless claims, and back then, Covid19 cases were doubling every 3 days.

    Results, (13 April, 2020)

    U.S.

Number of Confirmed Covid Cases; 560,000
    Number of Confirmed Deaths; 22,000
Number of test per 1m population; 8559

    Canada

Number of Confirmed Covid cases; 24,400
Number of Confirmed Covid deaths; 720
Number of Covid test per 1m population; 11,200

NOTE: Yep, Per capita, Canada has significantly tested more citizens than the U.S.

    Number of Canada's cases/deaths based on a 10 to 1 U.S./Canada population ratio, (X 10);

    Confirmed cases; 244,000
    Confirmed deaths; 7,200

PER CAPITA, difference between U.S. and Canada's number of cases/deaths; At least ONE Covid19 doubling time.

Thus, had we shut down 3 to 7 days earlier, and nation-wide...….Huuuuummmm

However, who primarily RESISTED shutting down the economy? Trump, Trump, and Trump!

Agree completely. I would add that keeping the economy closed also costs lives.

Sweden reported another low death number today but they may still be in the long Easter weekend.

Right. The same people who want all responsibility nationalized at the federal level (the same people who want a popular vote) are also against the local and state leaders being responsible for the health of their citizens. The federal government plays a supportive and advisory role. In case one or a few states screw up their own planning and actions, the federal gov't can step in, as we have done with FEMA readiness. That's just the way America works.

Trump is allowing 50 state governors make decisions, and many/most of them are delegating to local mayors and city councils. That's the American way. It's never been any other way, as much as some would like to see that change to letting the federal gov't have 100% control over our lives. That's not who we are. That's not how this works.

when the states have an emergency, the fed steps in to assist, always been that way, republicans states need help too in emergencies this big

the States admit they can't handle this on their own, they need help

if Trump can't help them, he can admit that too

Canada have the population and demographics very similar to the state of California. It's miniscule compared to the entire U.S. so that isn't a valid comparison. If you compare testing, cases, and outcomes of Canada vs California, California is doing slightly better than Canada.

Governor Newsom did a good job establishing restrictions fairly early. That was his job (not Trump's) and he has good results for good decisions.

Fauci is seen as a bit of a hero in the USA.

Trump fires him, and America will not be pleased.

Trump had no issue trying to claim credit when he thought it was going well

he told the States, nothing to worry about, we got it under control, stay calm

Cuomo has asked for more personnel and supplies, not for the Feds to take over management of our response.

Trump's mouth and tweets only aggravate the malcontents. The rest of us understand his faults and enjoy his digs at those who deserve his pushback.

we haven't gotten all the masks and ventilators we asked for.

Cuomo asked for 10,000 and Trump sent us 400.

No country in the world has all the resources they need right now. The task force has been honest about how we plan to mobilize resources, which are in short supply, to areas where they are needed, if and when they are needed.

I hear a lot of Mayors and Governors thanking Trump and the administration for being attentive and working with them to assist.

It's mainly Congress who still thinks this virus is a partisan political game to be played as "normal". Congress, and the media, that is.
