It is often difficult speaking with Americans about world issues and even american domestic issues seem to confuse most of them. But let’s not go into that stuff.

1977-78. My experience in Botswana was only a couple of days in Lobatse, Gabarone and Francis Town. I was living in Rhodesia at the time but rather than travel my normal hitch-hiking route from the RSA back to Rhodesia through Beitbridge I decided once to hitch up to Botswana and then hitch and rail to Plum Tree. Apartheid in South Africa was a really, really terrible thing and even though it was less oppressive in Rhodesia it was still the white man’s mindset. Going into Botswana I felt none of it but I suppose if I’d stayed longer I‘d be able to say for sure. Anyway, the short time I was in Botswana was nice. I had many discussions with the Tswanas and I was sad to leave. I might have stayed longer in the region but conscription was looming and I definitely was not going to stay long enough for them to put me into a uniform. My attitude probably would have caused me a lot of trouble with the security police and then I’d really be in a world of hurt so I left Africa before they could conscript me. I have travelled about 75% of Africa and the people of Botswana and Kenya will remain in my heart forever. Have you been to Botswana yourself?

 

That's what you told the Koreans, the Vietnamese and the Somalis. Anyway, if you need such a large swathe of geographical "buffer" then I failed to see how that sort of insecurity makes you a super anything.

Well, Chad was a French colony as was most of that region so it makes sense France would have had the most influence.

China has been making some huge inroads into Africa so I'm a bit surprised you say that Russia is the new boys on the block. But of course, it was Britain and France that created most of Africa's problems so ..... yeah I can imagine that Russia might be in a position to make some waves. But on the other hand weapons supply is always susceptible to smuggling and falling into the wrong hands.

Most will agree that Africa is a kettle of corruption and that they have no one to blame but themselves but it was colonial "white rule" that set the example before they left. Add to it tribal animosity .......

Russia is doing good right now, as we type. They have responded to the violent Ukrainian Nazis with violence, to protect legitimate Russian interests. Russia holds the moral high ground in this conflict.

The US has not held the moral high ground in its military operations since WWII. The US routinely conducts military aggression against countries around the world.

 

All falsehoods on your part. You know you can't simply declare that the Russians "hold the moral high ground" by claiming the presence of Nazis in Ukraine. "Nazis" do not automatically validate any military aggression.

The U.S. didn't hold the moral high ground in the Korean War? Have you forgotten is was the North Koreans who stormed across the border into South Korea and that the U.S. had the approval and official sanction of the United Nations in fighting there?

 

So, a White Supremacist nation attacking another supposedly White Supremacist nation, that actually invites Africans to higher education there, is supposed to have the higher moral ground in this conflict?

Russia entire army is infiltrated with White Supremacists as well as their government institutions. Just because Putin farts doesn't mean he is speaking a moral truth. The only reasons Russia attacked Ukraine is their paranoia that Ukraine could possibly have Western weapons on their border AND they wanted a larger portion of Ukraine for themselves.

Anything Putin or Russia says otherwise is just media fodder for their sheep internally. Nobody in the entire world outside Russia believes this Nazi crap outside of a few sheep and trolls repeating Russian propaganda.
