Yes, I think some people dont acknowledge the future danger to the US, Australia etc let alone immediate threat to Japan and SK. However in 4 years time if the unthinkable happens to Seattle for example. or Anchorage then people wont think twice again. Sadly it takes a world war to change comfort zones. But hey everyones entitled to opinion.
Kim is posturing.. If he annoys us enough maybe we'll buy him a present. Trump really should ignore him completely.
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/04/14/why-trump-is-right-on-north-korea.html Maybe "fake news". It seems although I'm pro action now its a ticklish situation. "One who hesitates is lost"?
Besides the fact several of its missiles have landed near Japan and it bombed part of SK recently and is trying to build a nuclear warhead that can reach America with a suicidal mad man as their leader the last thing we should do is let NK do it's own thing. It's own thing is going to be a war with SK and it's allies soon or later. However I feel we should not take action unless China supports us. I would be ok with China even controlling NK. Then the problem would be solved and nothing to worry about.
Mutually assured destruction has always been what prevented nuclear war. Nothing has changed. ... except NK couldn't take us out. We can eliminate them from the map. No contest. And he isn't suicidal.
Some people just do not care. Kim hates America with a passion and wants to see SK and the US burn. You are not Kim so you can't speak for him let alone know what he would or would not do. There is also the possibility of Russia backing NK as well. NK bombed part of SK not to long ago, launches missiles that lands by Japan but is intended to land on American soil and is trying to get a nuclear warhead which could be used on SK, Japan or US and would make taking him out that much harder. I say we and China invade NK and then let China have it. Problem solved.
Yes, lets start a war to prevent an imaginary future attack that would leave NK nothing but a glass field. Once you start a war, how do you stop it? We haven't figured that one out yet. What you are calling for is a recipe for WWIII.
You are all falling for NKs rhetoric. He is in a position to do absolutely nothing. This is all about China, not NK.
Sound thinking, what could go wrong? Do you disarm a toddler with a hammer? Of course, you might lose your TV. Do you let a drunk loose in a car? No way, you might lose a few friends. Why then would you let a known homicidal psychopath brandish an operational nuclear weapon? The human race could lose a few million souls. Cheers
A different wording of the thread title. Should we start WWIII or wait and see if north Korea does? The Kim would do so is not a given because he knows where he'll end up. His is a rule of propaganda and North Koreans truly believe he is their protector. The day we bomb them they will rally to him and attack back any way they can which means goodbye seole. He has to rattle swords. He has to give the impression of power. The day he stops is the end of his family's dynasty. I feel for the North Koreans but it's up to the people to end his oppression anyone else and it's war.
Frank, aren't you letting blind partisanship and a hatred for Donald Trump filter your view of today's reality? Trump, like it or not, has been working on a diplomatic solution. The administration's efforts have really been nothing short of spectacular. In just a few weeks the U.S. has pulled off the "Asian pivot" that has languished for four years. The state visit of China's Xi was a coup that saw China pivot publicly on its North Korea policy. For the first time ever Korea's patron is publicly, diplomatically, militarily and economically pressuring them to moderate. Stunning! China says it is now open to discussions of a denuclearized North Korea, meaning getting rid of N-Korean nukes, without N-Korea being included in the talks. China, the United States, Japan, Russia and South Korea discussing how to de-nuke North Korea. This has never happened, ever. Interestingly the Trump administration didn't accomplish this, as MSM's oft repeated sophomoric argument implies, through a single track ham fisted focus on military brinksmanship. The approach was multi-channeled, nuanced, subtle where necessary and demonstrative where appropriate. From inception, where the need was identified and the desired goal was defined, to today, it's evident that a plan was scripted and a great deal of intellectual umph was exerted. Cheers Cheers
I'll tell you why. Assuming a foreign power is going to attack Seattle, San Francisco and Guam or Hawaii four years from now and launching a preemptive strike against said foreign power and provoking a humanitarian crisis because said foreign power has nukes that will kill millions in South Korea, Japan, and other U.S. allies is a violation of American principles by which we live, violation of treaties we have signed, violation of our Constitution, violation of our laws, violation of the U.N. Charter, and violation of several international laws. And just plain stupid. It is no wonder your friends are worried about you.
You speak as though this were a fait accompli. China has done nothing but vote no on a Syrian resolution in the Security Council that had absolutely no effect on China itself and she turned back a coal order. In the meantime Trump is talking tough. Pyongyang is talking tough. A carrier strike group is heading toward North Korean waters, and tensions are higher than ever. You are fascinated with Trump's rhetoric. He continues to fool his base with talk. When is his base going to start measuring Trump by his accomplishments? Well, they are in short supply and his many fans have trouble admitting they were wrong. So, they manufacture his accomplishments out of thin air like you just did.
#1 You are absolutely correct, this could still all go down hill. #2 I'm never fascinated by talk. We've seen real movement. China like never before sounds, human. Give the day to Trump, the coordination to this point has proved successful. Cheers
