Most billionaires are liberal Democrats. Why is that?

What is more constructive than stopping government bailouts of corporations? Making it known that we believe that corporations should not have the same rights as individuals at the cost of individuals. That it is not right that corporations get special representives called lobbyists who do not represent the people but instead the corporations at the cost of the people.

They believe that greed is the nature of a corporation. It is the purpose of corporations to make money for the stockholders and they will do anything as long as it increases profits. For this reason we need government to regulate and set fair rules that prevent these organizations from hurting our economy, indivduals and our enviroment. I think that is a good place to put their energy. I may disagree with a lot of things that they say or do but I do not believe that all of them are not contributing to society. You can find a few lazy citizens in any groups or rallies, but it is unfair to put such labels on the whole group because of a few.

And the more regulation you pile on them, the more their costs of doing business in this country goes up, which means they outsource those jobs to places where it cost less to do business. Which hurts the people doing the protesting even more.

Like everything else, regulation is good within moderation.

"Make a difference???" Doing what? Pooping on the streets? Costing taxpayers of large cities like NYC millions of dollars? Going into businesses to use their restrooms to take sink baths? Rudy Guilani said the other day that when he was Mayor there was a rule: "no sleeping on the streets." Period. Now, Bloomberg seems to be "anything goes." Of course, if they start breaking storefront windows out and looting, he'll be singing a different tune and wishing he'd not let it gotten this far.

I haven't heard one interviewed yet who can articulate why they are there and what their goal is. Unlike the Tea Party who has a very strong and succinct message, this group doesn't have one. And unlike the Tea Party who have had ZERO arrests, this group has had in the thousands so far.

So....in a sentence or two, what IS the message?

The notion this post ignores is the thrust of the OWS folks. The top 1% control too much. The idea that those 1% folks deserve all they have gotten is insane, at a certain point wealth accrued is just greed and not deserved.

There will always be a top 1% unless everyone has exactly the same wealth. The concept of 99% is just a demographic, and some of that top 1% might not have got there through illegal, unfair or immoral actions. The problem should be those people who are doing the wrong thing and that is not limited to the top 1% by a long shot.

I know a few wealthy people and about 2/3rd's of them are buttholes. Usually its the ones born into it, but not always. This whole Occupy movement is disingenious or stupid. Capitalism is a system for wealth creation, not welfare. Governments need to manage both effectively. I understand the intent of the Occupy movement, I certainly am not in that top 1%, but the position is illogical. We need the top 1% to be more wealthier so it can pull up the middle and lower classes. Bringing down the top 1% will only bring down everyone else as well. Focus on the government if your really serious.

How bout we agree that a corporation like GE or Exxon pay more than ZERO dollars in corporate taxes in a calendar year?

I think you'll find most people agree with the intent, but think the current method is fudged up in the head.

I've always voted for anyone who is not a member of the two-party system. Demorepublicans try to advertise a package that attracts all the interests, but I usually find that their actions are not in compliance with my political positions.

If America was a nation that saved rather than lived on credit the 99% could have emptied out all their savings from the huge banks and watch them collapse totally.
Have salaries paid in cash rather than bank transfers.
Plenty ways you can hit the big banks IF you had your own money and savings.

    1) Simply not true: some sample proof.

    2) Need I again cite this survey I highlighted in the OP, which finds that fully 54 percent of Americans support this movement? Allow me to suggest that that's quite a bit more than the children of the richest one percent could possibly compose.

Raising awareness about the domination of this country by a financial aristocracy, concentrating people's disillusionment with the status quo in a progressive direction, and dialoguing on solutions while doing so are what we're doing, and to great effect. We're, in short, doing a whole lot more than you are. All you're doing is whining about us on the Internet. That's sure impressive.

Further, these are our streets and our public places. We are the public. We assert our right to use them. The fact that we do not have the most sanitary conditions (portable toilets, etc.) would be the fault of the city, not of us. We manage to clean up after ourselves anyway though. And no, people do not generally "poop on the streets" or whatever.

In other words, the Tea Party movement is not a threat to the establishment, whereas we, by participating in civil disobedience actions and consciousness-raising, are. Anyone who has followed our movement knows that OWS is fundamentally about non-violent methods. While we cannot necessarily account for the spontaneous whims of every last individual who participates in this movement, you cannot dispute that of our organized actions have been essentially peaceful. (We have distanced ourselves from those who participated in rioting in Europe yesterday.)

This just makes me want to cry. I have already gone to painstaking lengths to answer this question, but it just keeps getting asked by people who refuse to read my replies. Read this because I'm not going to repeat myself on all this again. Can you sense my frustration with the willful ignorance of half of this thread's readership?? If you want to be part of a productive conversation, don't just talk, but also listen to what other people say.

I hate to double-post, but apparently the time frame in which I can edit my previous post has elapsed. I just wanted to add this video, which interviews young participants in this movement. The youth form the backbone of OWS.

I thought Switzerland had a multi-party system - what are you babbling about?

Actually, Democrats and Republicans don't advertise a package that attracts all the interests, and if you were truly an American, you would know this.

So, which one of your country's political parties does comply with your political positions?

You're not stopping anything railing against Capitalism and banging bongos in Zuccotti Park, GrayMan.

And what about the unions are guilty of the exact same thing? I haven't heard a peep out of the protesters about how Big Labor's deep pockets are corrupting our politicians and our country. Why is that? (No need to answer - that's a rhetorical question).

I'm beginning to think the protesters have no idea how civic groups get things done in this country. If they expect to accomplish anything constructive, they had best figure that out, GrayMan. Talk is cheap...

So you want a constitutional amendment to abrogate the First Amendment?

It is a perversion to equate money with speech.

They seem young. The OWS's downfall however is that without a clear platform.....the door is open for anyone to latch on to the movement.

The American Communist party and the American Nazi Party are both participating and championing the cause......... for different reasons?

The Socialist party and half a dozen Soros's groups. There is no coherent or cohesive message other than pro-anarchy.

I think this is a pretty accurate summary of the message.

No, I want an amendment to make it illegal for the supreme court to irrationally and disgustingly equate bribing politicians, with free speech. Because at the moment, that is what the precedent is!!
