The Democrats know they can't get away with doing that, yet. So they do the next best thing. They use the justice system to harass and bankrupt their opponents with endless law suits.

 

Actually, I feel like since Obama was first elected, the republican strategy has been to deny democrats any kind of claim of progress on anything at all costs. If Obama supports it, obstruct it. This has continued. So Biden has learned there's little point in working with republicans because their purpose isn't to get things done together, but to make sure democrats can't point to any accomplishments at the end.

Obama, and especially Biden, are not dividers. They are moderate democrats. Fox has just addled the minds of the right into thinking the democrats are the extremists.

 

Please stop pretending that politely requesting documents that someone has stolen for well over a year, then sending a subpoena, and then only issuing a warrant after the subject lied about said documents is somehow "jackbooted." The FBI has never been more patient with anyone about getting them to return such documents. Trump was treated with kid gloves and even then his followers are playing like he's a sad little victim. Then again, he's been a professional victim for decades. It's no surprised he's duped even more followers into his act.

I'm aware of the tactics of politics and politicians - on both sides. It's fair to accuse the Republicans of being obstructionists, but it's a case of living on deNile if you think the democrats don't have stock in that market. But I think your point about Fox is interesting because it may point to where the problem is (not with Fox specifically, but the media in general). How much reporting is actually done over bipartisan achievements? For instance the latest Bill on covid Intel declassification was unanimously passed. It made the headlines probably because it's rare that you'll see that happen. My point is it's the big issues that we hear so much about and those will be used by both sides to shape the minds of the voters to cast their lot for one side or the other. So it's really not one sided, as you seem to suggest.

Biden made a promise when he campaigned based on his alleged history of working across the aisle. It's just convenient to blame the Republicans when he can't deliver on his promise.

Like you I have also voted third party last time (and the three times before). I also hold no ill will towards anyone for voting for Trump, or anyone candidate in any election for that matter. The senate ballot over can look daunting because there is such a huge choice of parties - you can just about wrap yourself in it, but it isn’t hard to number a few boxes and it does mean that it is not just two parties. And it is cheaper.

I like how little his ego is invested in getting onto our television screens, our twitter feed and into our psyches. He realizes that sometimes, when he needs to speak, its going to be about someone else's accomplishments and he's just fine with that. He know how to honor someone else and not steal the moment. He's just in there to get something done, something that he thinks should be done. No ego trip.

 

It's hard to work across the aisle when basic principles are so far apart.
