What does MAGA (and Ultra MAGA) mean to you

Explain who that leader was then. Was it the guy outside the Capitol Building ordering everyone to go in.....Mr. Epps? The guy the Weaponized FBI won't even investigate while they threw others in prison? No.....January 6th went exactly as planned! The ONLY death was Ashley Babbitt.

Trump and his minions organizing the insurrection expanded for whole speeches, interviews on Fox and the radio, as well as many many tweets. These were shown by the January 6 committee hearings which I TOLD right-wingers they should listen (and then summarized at the end of each), if they wanted to to know the facts. Because THAT's where all they evidence they sought would be. Not in this forum, not in an isolated quote. In the WHOLE hearings. Repeating hearings that lasted over 4 with video, quotes and testimony would take over 4 hours each. Which I don't think the mods would appreciate and, even if they did, I have no intention of repeating just because lazy people don't want to hear anything bad about their "idol"

I did try to like any comment made directly to me, whether I agreed with it or not. I appreciate the feedback. Much was an invite to an argument but I really wanted to hear what people think, not disabuse them of what I hold is mistaken.

I will write, that, at least once I was likened to a white guy that hates his loss of power in a democratizing USA. Note that I am a Jew and not considered "white". In my own description of what MAGA means to me, I don't think I in any way lament the loss of what could be called racial power. At worse, I suppose trying to stop illegal immigration can be viewed as an effort to slow the "browning of America" but since the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, that browning will occur nonetheless. Legal immigration is not something I have an issue with, at least not like illegal immigration. (Side note: a good friend married a Russian woman and in going on 5 years, he has been unable to legally get her here. That does bespeak of a legal immigration system in need of reform).

 

OK, the wall is useless. It does provide a barrier at certain points for a brief time.
The point of me locking my door is of my own accord. I am not asking you to give me money to lock my door.

 

I never had ANY interest in that "partisan witch hunt". You can make anything appear as you'd like when there is no opposition!

 

So it's useful at some places, but useless at other places. In the case of the places where it's useless what would be your solution in order to secure those locations?

Obviously, you don't have to lock your doors, but if you're a renter the landlord would be required to provide a lock on your doors or face possible liability if you're robbed or harmed.

I had a great 6 figure income career…..took an early retirement/severance package February 2020, and I’m still young/energetic, thus, “what am I going to do?”

Well, I own a Dually/Picker, and a gooseneck trailer. Note; mainly dormant assets when I was employed by Big Oil. In addition, my last employer, and over a decade, abandoned at least 200 unproductive oil wells.

Thus, post-retirement, I started a business of hauling scrap metal, mainly old/abandoned Pump Jacks, average scrap price, $190 a ton, average 10 tons weekly.

2022 Gross Revenue $105K……There you go, post-retirement, I’m still earning a 6 figure income, and my greatest asset isn’t my equipment, it’s my CONTACTS, thus, Big Oil&Gas Upper Management.

I’ve often asked myself this question; Why a majority are struggling and whining when in fact there are tons of opportunities to earn a good income, contribute, and make America great!

1. When I was a teenager; I volunteered at my local Chamber of Commerce, mainly at their monthly Meet&Greet…..Note; 6 years ago/45 years later, I was their interim President.

2. Age 19…..Toastmasters…..I was the youngest local member. Surprisingly, I met/socialized with high quality members/contacts; Doctors, Lawyers Politicians, Business people, etc.

3. Volunteer; many Community Events/Festivals = more contacts.

Also, TEENS should learn Construction and Mechanics! Hiring phrase; “I don’t care how much you pay me, I just want to work hard, and learn”…….so phoooken easy!

NEXT, get a post-secondary education. Note; I’ve never had to apply for a Student loan;

a. My late parents paid my first two Semesters at CU Boulder.

b. 2nd/3rd year……Phillips Petroleum, Summers, long weekends, break-ups…..good money! Note; Prior moving 700 miles away from my hometown/becoming an out-of state student, a Chamber & Commerce CONTACT lined me up with a flexible part-time job, initially field work, and then, corporate office…..NICE!

c. Last year; Financed by Phillips Petroleum, plus a non-refundable hiring bonus, and then, my first Full-time job; Norway, offshore platform junior engineer, Bingo!

Many years ago, I remember training a first year robotic college student, a summer job, and subsequently/unexpectedly, I received a phone call from the owner of XYZ Robotics, and he stated; “On his resume, this young fellow listed YOU as his main referral”, and we chatted for approx 20 minutes. 2 hours later, said young fellow called me, and several times, thanked “his most important CONTACT”

The bottom line; Those who are well-connected aren’t struggling and whining.

 

That is what made me want this thread as it seems inverted. Before we ask that question we should be asking what people even think it means.

Actually MAGA is an acronym for Make America Great Again, which is itself a euphemism (a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing) for the American White Nationalist Protectionist Wannabe Fascist Party that Trump personified which took over the Republican party. AWNPWFP just does not have the same ring to it.

 

I don't see the northern border as a problem. If it was we would see a mass crossing it as we do the southern. Canada isn't as favorable as Mexico is towards illegal immigrants. The fact that Mexico allows illegal immigrants to cross their southern border shows that. As long as they are just passing through is fine with them. It gives the cartels an opportunity to make some money.

No, that's not meant as an insult or smart remark; I've seen more than one person spend their lives doing something like that. I'm just reading the parallels that you are showing here.

Some people carry an old emotional hurt like a long overdue bill accumulating interest, trying to collect it from anybody they can stick it on- and they can't make their lives come together because it's always there, and they can't put it down. They grow old and die like that, never able to rise above it. Painful to watch, and nothing can be done to help them.

 

The northern border is an opening that could be used if their is a wall across the entire southern land border. It's part of going around.
But that is a small concern given the 2 oceans and gulf of Mexico. Which also would need to be secured with a wall.
