So, I had an interesting evening, my brother texts me late in the evening and wants to come over and chat.

Turns out my brother is bi-sexual.

My reaction? Nothing, I am quite happy he came out with it. It was hell for him, he was deathly afraid of what our family would say. They are fine with it. Certainly did not disown our own blood as do many religious families.

    My family is awesome.

So what if a loved one told you they were gay, lesbian, or bi-sexual?

I've been hoping my wife would tell me she's bisexual for years, but it hasn't happened. :???:

why is it a big deal? It's about how they have sex

does having sex with another male/female change the person you are?????

If you think because someone has sex differently than you makes them less/more of a person then you have some serious soul searching to do.

Isn't the only place where being bi-sexual counts in the bedroom? Can't imagine why anyone would feel the need to burden their family with the news they're bi-sexual. I can see coming out gay since that's more of a lifestyle... but do you really need to tell people you sleep with both men & women?

TMI if ya ask me... and you did. ;)

Neither one is a lifestyle choice, no more of a choice than my attraction towards dark haired women.

If the family truly loves their own family members, then how would it be a burden?

Any adult discussing their sexual preferences with family members just strikes me as odd. Like I said... coming out gay is one thing. I have a gay stepbrother and although we 'knew' he was gay from his early teens, his needing to 'come out' to the family was understandable.

Needing 'assurance' that you'll still be accepted if you swing both ways seems terribly needy to me.

Just my personal opinion... I might think differently if I knew your brother.

It is no burden because we're talking about bedroom behavior.

What I will never understand is why those who engage in same sex sexual relations feel it has any bearing on who they are.

IMO, if your brother has intimate relations with both men and women, it's the women in his life who need to know he's bisexual. Not you and your family.

I've mentioned this before, but my gay stepbrother is dying of AIDS. He's 53. No matter how much gay men refuse to face facts... HIV is on the rise again in this country and male-on-male sex is still the leading method of transmission. There is still no cure.

Any man who has sex with other men owes it to his next female sex partner to tell her about it and let HER make the decision to put herself at risk.

My first internet experience was AOL chatrooms. I was appalled at the number of STR8MM4M players. The idea of a married man having sex with other men sickens me. It's worse than adultery... it's perversion.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say there's really no such thing as a bi-male. There's only gay men who use women to keep from being labeled as gay.

Wolverine, people's sexuality concerns you far more than it does most people.

I have two daughters. A 9 year old and a 2 year old.

They are too young for any of that now, but when they are older I could care less. As long as they are HAPPY that is all I care about!!

I want my kids to be happy, ill die from working myself to death to ensure their happiness.

I would be bummed about not having grand kids but thats about it.

It is possible to have interest in both sexes incase you did not notice.

There is not a vast conspiracy to be had.

Having interest and having sex are two different things. Unless one is an animal, of course. Then they're exactly the same.

    Conspiracy regarding what?

I would be just as accepting of them as you would be of someone who flew the confederate flag. I'm sure you'd approve of that.

LOL, or a Jehovah's Witness knocking at the door. That'd be a real test of tolerance and acceptance, huh? ;)

I'd ask them if they would like to sue anyone for discrimination and collect 10% of the winnings as a sort of finder's fee.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

It's very simple: they believe in a lie that has become part of what they consider their identity, just like anyone else who makes an emotional investment in a false idea and would rather die than write off that investment.

And if that's what your thoughts about that truly are... then you don't know much at all.
