Question for Pro-Choicers: What is it exactly about pregnancy you find so objectionable?
Is it the stretching? The extra weight the woman has to carry around with her for a few months?

Yeah, yeah, I know you say it's a woman's right. But I mean, if women were required to carry to term, what would be so awful about that? Is pregnancy really so much worse than abortion? That cervix is going to have to be pried open either way.

Stretch marks and weight gain? See, if you have NO knowledge of what pregnancy involves and YOU are not the pregnant one then you have no say in what is "awful" or objectionable.

If a woman is required (FORCED) to carry to term what is so awful?

The fact that she then is nothing more than a piece of property.
The fact that she loses her rights.
The fact that she is nothing more than a broodmare, livestock.
The fact that she is FORCED into a possible life threatening ordeal.
The fact that she is FORCED into monetary loss......kinda like extortion.

    Here's a list of your "stretchmarks" :

Normal, frequent or expectable temporary side effects of pregnancy:
•exhaustion (weariness common from first weeks)
•altered appetite and senses of taste and smell
•nausea and vomiting (50% of women, first trimester)
    •heartburn and indigestion
    •constipation
    •weight gain
    •dizziness and light-headedness
    •bloating, swelling, fluid retention
    •hemmorhoids
    •abdominal cramps
    •yeast infections
    •congested, bloody nose
    •acne and mild skin disorders
•skin discoloration (chloasma, face and abdomen)
•mild to severe backache and strain
    •increased headaches
•difficulty sleeping, and discomfort while sleeping
    •increased urination and incontinence
    •bleeding gums
    •pica
    •breast pain and discharge
•swelling of joints, leg cramps, joint pain
•difficulty sitting, standing in later pregnancy
    •inability to take regular medications
    •shortness of breath
    •higher blood pressure
•hair loss or increased facial/body hair
    •tendency to anemia
•curtailment of ability to participate in some sports and activities
•infection including from serious and potentially fatal disease
(pregnant women are immune suppressed compared with non-pregnant women, and are more susceptible to fungal and certain other diseases)
    •extreme pain on delivery
•hormonal mood changes, including normal post-partum depression
•continued post-partum exhaustion and recovery period (exacerbated if a c-section -- major surgery -- is required, sometimes taking up to a full year to fully recover)

Normal, expectable, or frequent PERMANENT side effects of pregnancy:
•stretch marks (worse in younger women)
    •loose skin
    •permanent weight gain or redistribution
    •abdominal and vaginal muscle weakness
•pelvic floor disorder (occurring in as many as 35% of middle-aged former child-bearers and 50% of elderly former child-bearers, associated with urinary and rectal incontinence, discomfort and reduced quality of life -- aka prolapsed utuerus, the malady sometimes badly fixed by the transvaginal mesh)
    •changes to breasts
    •increased foot size
    •varicose veins
    •scarring from episiotomy or c-section
•other permanent aesthetic changes to the body (all of these are downplayed by women, because the culture values youth and beauty)
    •increased proclivity for hemmorhoids
•loss of dental and bone calcium (cavities and osteoporosis)
•higher lifetime risk of developing Altzheimer's
•newer research indicates microchimeric cells, other bi-directional exchanges of DNA, chromosomes, and other bodily material between fetus and mother (including with "unrelated" gestational surrogates)

    Occasional complications and side effects:
    •complications of episiotomy
    •spousal/partner abuse
    •hyperemesis gravidarum
•temporary and permanent injury to back
    •severe scarring requiring later surgery
    (especially after additional pregnancies)
•dropped (prolapsed) uterus (especially after additional pregnancies, and other pelvic floor weaknesses -- 11% of women, including cystocele, rectocele, and enterocele)
•pre-eclampsia (edema and hypertension, the most common complication of pregnancy, associated with eclampsia, and affecting 7 - 10% of pregnancies)
•eclampsia (convulsions, coma during pregnancy or labor, high risk of death)
    •gestational diabetes
    •placenta previa
    •anemia (which can be life-threatening)
    •thrombocytopenic purpura
    •severe cramping
    •embolism (blood clots)
•medical disability requiring full bed rest (frequently ordered during part of many pregnancies varying from days to months for health of either mother or baby)
•diastasis recti, also torn abdominal muscles
•mitral valve stenosis (most common cardiac complication)
•serious infection and disease (e.g. increased risk of tuberculosis)
    •hormonal imbalance
    •ectopic pregnancy (risk of death)
    •broken bones (ribcage, "tail bone")
    •hemorrhage and
    •numerous other complications of delivery
    •refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease
•aggravation of pre-pregnancy diseases and conditions (e.g. epilepsy is present in .5% of pregnant women, and the pregnancy alters drug metabolism and treatment prospects all the while it increases the number and frequency of seizures)
    •severe post-partum depression and psychosis
•research now indicates a possible link between ovarian cancer and female fertility treatments, including "egg harvesting" from infertile women and donors
•research also now indicates correlations between lower breast cancer survival rates and proximity in time to onset of cancer of last pregnancy
•research also indicates a correlation between having six or more pregnancies and a risk of coronary and cardiovascular disease

    Less common (but serious) complications:
    •peripartum cardiomyopathy
    •cardiopulmonary arrest
    •magnesium toxicity
    •severe hypoxemia/acidosis
    •massive embolism
    •increased intracranial pressure, brainstem infarction
    •molar pregnancy, gestational trophoblastic disease
    (like a pregnancy-induced cancer)
    •malignant arrhythmia
    •circulatory collapse
    •placental abruption
    •obstetric fistula
    More permanent side effects:
    •future infertility
    •permanent disability
    •death.

I think each women should be able to decide if she wants to bring a baby into this world... I respect her choice either way...... as in pro-CHOICE

are you ok with forcing rape victims to have their rapists babies... there is much wrong with that....

Are you being intentionally obtuse? Pro-choicers don't find pregnancy objectionable for women who choose it. We object to forced birth.

Actually, not. Women can have medical abortions and C-section births. I'm providing a link with photos of a C-section to help you understand why you can't morally force women to give birth:

This is all ya got, your claim that people do not like how a pregnant woman looks? Some love the look if it is a wanted look, thing is the VAST majority of abortions are performed before a woman even starts showing so you claim is based on what?

Then just don't get pregnant!!! The man can produce hundreds or more live sperm and the woman several eggs. If even one egg is fertilized, being that one, has to mean something, even if only when it becomes a fetus. This said, when rape is involved or the women's health, killing off that fetus, IMO only by law (not morality), should be allowed.

There is nothing wrong in pregnancy prevention, nothing (however defined) is killed off and the society could claim in earnestly some sort or human morality.

""Then just don't get pregnant!!! """

OH, gee, nobody for the last 10,000 years ever thought of that......

But it happens......and happens more when Repub/conservs shut down clinic after clinic that provides affordable, accessible birth control.

And your morals are not everyone's morals and as you don't have to live by other's morals they don't have to live by yours.

Why is it so difficult for you to be realistic and fair?

There is NOTHING objectionable about pregnancy. . . especially when it is a WANTED pregnancy!

But the fact is that pregnancy is no one's business but the people involved, mostly the woman, and her partner if he is involved!

It has NOTHING to do with stretch mark or weight gain. . .what a dumb concept!
It has all to do with WOMEN deciding when their own body, their own mind, their own situation is optimal (or at least fair enough) to bring a fetus to full development and to commit to it for a life time.

How childish your comment is! And, NO, the cervix doesn't have to be "pried open" for an early term abortion! No more than it is for a natural miscarriage!

    DUH!

Nothing is killed off? What about all those little sperm swimming away to no avail? You are condemnimg them to death by using a barrier method of BC or preventing ovulation with hormones. What about all those eggs destined to meet up with sperm but prevented from doing so with artificial methods of BC? Killing, that's what it is, just cold-blooded killing by those with no feelings for eggs or sperm. Murderers!

I suppose your just being sarcastic, but there is a difference between egg/sperm and the embryo. In fact that's my problem with this issue, in that millions of combinations of any single sperm penetrating 2-5 eggs, may have a meaning, then surviving on to fetus and birth additional meaning. Said another way and without verification, IMO the odds on any one person being born must be millions to one, that means you and myself as well....

The woman doesn't loose all her rights. She's still free to walk around wherever she pleases. She just has to pay a little more attention to her health and not smoke or drink too much alcohol. It's only for 9 months. Unless she makes a little slipup again.

Yes, there are natural consequences to your actions. If you get pregnant, you're going to be having to shell out money one way or the other. (Maybe that's why so many abortion supporters want free taxpayer-funded abortions, they don't believe sex should carry any consequences)

An abortion can cost upwards of 500 dollars in the U.S.
If you hire a midwife and choose to deliver in the comfort of your own home, the cost of birth is not terribly all that much more than this. When you think about it, it's really a rather insignificant amount compared to the precious gift of life you are bestowing upon your child.

    Those don't sound so bad.

It might be even worse if she chooses abortion:
women who choose Death, don't be surprised when you get a YEAST infection

A little coco butter applied twice a day and any marks won't even be noticeable.

    Very rare.

In fact, did you know Abortion is virtually never required to save a woman's life, and even in those rare cases that the pregnancy poses a significant risk to the mother's health, it still isn't absolutely necessary in most cases?

Did you know a woman is more likely to die in a car accident than die during pregnancy?
Women have died from abortion too.

Much greater risk if she gets an abortion. Many women are not able to live with what they've done.

In the vast majority of cases where C-section is done, it wasn't absolutely necessary. Doctors are overusing the procedure.

Why so many C-sections have medical groups concerned
Overuse of c-sections: bad for women and babies

So you think it is OK to remove the rights of a person who has done nothing wrong . .great in that case I am going to remove your right to free speech, your 2nd amendment right and your right to equal protection under the law . .after all you don't lose ALL your rights do you, you can still walk around where ever you please.

You really have very little concept of rights.

Maybe that is why so many pro-forced birthers want punishments for having sex.

You forgot to add in the total cost of raising that child .. selective thinking again I see, though money is irrelevant really.

Must be really hard for you to accept that it doesn't matter what you consider to be bad or not.

Yet another zombie thread dredged up from the pits that you were soundly beaten in.

Must be really hard for you to accept that it doesn't matter what you consider to be bad or not.

Who care, it isn't your decision to make and thankfully will never be.

did you know you are more likely to get injured in a car crash than a woman is to get pregnant .. amazing what stats can provide isn't it.

Yes they have died from abortion, funny how that figure crashed down when abortion became legal though. Women have also died from numerous other medical and/or surgical procedures, so you point is what exactly .. Oh BTW please do produce the number of women who have died from a medical abortion ie taking the morning after pill, or is this, yet AGAIN, your fixation on late-term abortions . .you know like your "Abortion is virtually never required to save a woman's life" neither is a late-term abortion required that often.

Absolute poppycock, pseudo science that has been discredited and blown apart numerous times, still doesn't stop pro-lifers repeating the lie though, must make them liars.

Fewer than 1 percent of abortions are done because of rape (and the number is probably much lower than that).
Just because the fetus resulted from a rape doesn't make it any less human.
You know, abortion doesn't un-rape you. There have been many women who have come forward years later and described how their abortion was even more traumatic than the rape itself.

The "meaning" is that a woman becomes pregnant. If that is what she wants, we can all rejoice. If that is not what she wants, the "meaning" is that she will have to decide if she doesn't want it strongly enough to choose abortion. Strangely enough, with all the odds against one person being born, the planet is still over-populated. Go figure.

Easy solution: expanded access to birth control. Which, ironically, has been consistently opposed by the same people trying to get rid of abortion.

It is unknown how many C-sections performed are unnecessary, but they account for almost one in three births, and it is a major abdominal surgery. C-sections are done for the following reasons:

    Breech position
    Cord prolapse
    Fetal distress
    Failure to progress in labor
    Repeat cesarean
    Cephalopelvic Disproportion (CPD)
    Active genital herpes
    Diabetes
    Preeclampsia
    Birth defects
    Multiple births

Do you still think home birth is such a good idea? The point remains, any birth can be risky and traumatic for the woman, and not something you can morally force upon her
