    1. I'm not talking about the article, but what you posted after quoting it, as well as how you are using the article -- for propaganda purposes.
    2. Sounds like more nonsense. Our withdrawal is reportedly in response to prior Russian violations.
    3. Your opinion is laughable, and reeks more of propaganda designed to generate unreasoning distrust and hatred toward the United States in the ongoing effort to erode the NATO alliance.

    https://www.wearethemighty.com/gear-tech/russian-nuclear-submarine-attack

The Borei Class of submarines poses a significant threat to Russia's enemies, but they will almost certainly never fire their nuclear missiles in anger since since doing so would demand a retaliatory strike against Russia.

    (Russian Military)

    ...

We would be devastated, for sure. But the reason that Russia would never even hope to conduct an attack like this is simple: Even if they were able to cripple the submarine base at King's Bay, the Air Force bases in the Midwest, and the command and control at the Pentagon, America keeps nuclear submarines from King's Bay on patrol. So, our response capability would be limited after an attack, but it's nearly impossible to eliminate the capability all at once.

And those ballistic missile submarines are extremely resilient. If America were attacked, it would be the job of these submarines to retaliate, unleashing their own massive payloads of missiles against Russian targets with similar results. If four or five were on patrol, which is fairly standard, they could send dozens of nuclear missiles against Russian targets, causing even more devastation there than we suffered here.

While the nightmare can be scary (but also cathartic) to think about, it's important to remember that it's just a nightmare. The U.S. military maintains a robust nuclear deterrent to keep anyone from actually going through an attack like this. And our submarines, as well as the slightly less survivable bombers and missiles, ensure that no enemy could launch such an attack without losing their own country in the process.

Thanks for the site link, though, Boris. Lots of amusing and interesting reading on there!

That time an F-22 pilot told the Iranian Air Force to go home

The opening few minutes of the movie Top Gun make for, arguably, one of the coolest aerial scenes ever caught on film. There's a reason it's the enduring air power movie of the 1980s. Too bad for the Air Force that Top Gun featured the Navy.

Except Air Force pilots do that sh*t in real life.

In 2013, two Iranian Air Force F-4 Phantoms moved to intercept an MQ-1 drone flying in international airspace near the Iranian border. The two IRIAF fighters were quickly shooed away by two F-22 Raptors who were flying in escort.

Except, they didn't just get a warning message, they were Maverick-ed. That's what I'm calling it now.

Why would we have to make our cities invulnerable? Go ahead and use them, and we’ll wipe out the entire Russian nation. Russian will only be a language spoken by academics researching a dead country.

What the F-22 will do in a war with China
The F-22 Raptor is kind of an underrated badass. Now overshadowed by the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Raptor never really got its chance to stand out on its own. But with the U.S. Air Force increasingly butting heads with other air forces around the world, the real power of the Raptor is starting to show.

General Mark Welsh, then-Air Force Chief of Staff once told the story of a Raptor pilot who snuck up on an Iranian F-4 Phantom who was moving to intercept and shoot down a U.S. drone. After flying below two Iranian planes to check out their armaments, he pulled up to their left wing, surprising them, and told them to go home. They did.

    ...

In combat zones, the mere presence of an F-22 commands respect. Currently, Russian, Syrian, and Iranian aircraft are operating in the skies above Syria. In 587 encounters there, the Raptors forced the other aircraft to back off without further aggression.

 That is CG. It was posted to this forum some time ago and a couple of us spotted how fake it was right way.

You can leave your cities vulnerable or surround them with air defense. This is your business. It really doesn't matter. The explosion of the Yellowstone volcano will solve all problems with aggressive crazy people. Unfortunately, good people will die. But the fascists in the White House are to blame in that.

There is no way to build a missile defense system that would prevent a multi-thousand warhead attack. The only preventative measure to that kind of attack is mutually assured distraction.

America’s submarine force alone gives us over 5,000 450kt warheads. There are (per the 2010 census) just over 1,000 cities and towns in Russia.

If Russia ever launches an nuclear attack on America, our subs alone mean that we can hit every city and town in Russia five times over.

And doesn’t even count our land based ICBM’s or bombers.

So like I said, feel free to use them. We’ll exterminate your entire nation.

In Russia, children fly like this on an old Russian plane. Good pilots on the new Su 35 fly several orders of magnitude better.

In your photo there a bad model with a bad pilot?

So what? These are old useless rockets. With the same old ships and submarines. These missiles you can scare can only be Papuans. And then I'm not sure that the Papuans will be scared.

How exactly are they “useless”? They each still pack a 450kt warhead.

Is an AK-47 useless because the AK-12 has been invented?

I think the ultra white nationalist oligarchs of Putin's kleptocracy are attempting to once again rise up to superpower status and reclaiming past "glories". and they'll lie and cheat and bullshit and bully and oppress and murder and attempt to divide the "enemy" any damn way they can.

Trump controls the biggest military dick on the planet while Putin holds a much smaller one in his hand. Not that they both love waving their around for all to see.

Putin is an absolute sociopath and people should understand that a sociopath like Putin would have zero reluctance to cause a nuclear holocaust.

Does anyone remember when liberals were terrified of Trump because of his familiarity with Putin? We were so scared of the threat he would be to the U.S. that some of us plugged our nose and voted for Trump. They all laughed when we said "he'll start World War III". Well, it doesn't really seem too funny now, does it?

No. I'm counting on typical Russian incompetence to keep my city invulnerable from Russian missiles.

    That, a few dozen ABMs.

And that in no remotely conceivable nuclear war would any city within 100 miles of where I live be targeted. The only way I would ever be directly impacted by a Russian nuclear attack is if one of their warheads misses.

    By a lot.

Though that might indeed be possible.

Entirely possible. The U.S. military has had members working for the KGB before.

That said would you like me to refer you to a couple of arms control experts who analyzed the capabilities of the current American nuclear forces and determined the U.S. could exterminate the ENTIRE Russian ICBM and SLBM force at no cost to ourselves?
