The Founding Fathers did not "imagine" We the People.

You have nothing - and I mean nothing - in common with the founding fathers.

I share the Founding Fathers understanding of the concept of We the People which is way more than can be said for libertarians.

Their understanding of "we the people" was based on a shared belief in the inalienability of natural, god-given rights. You represent the exact opposite of that vision. If George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were alive today, they'd be your mortal enemies.

You brought up the founding fathers, not me.

So you better report yourself first.

Anyway, fact remains: You have absolutely nothing in common with the men who founded America. They were gun-loving, tax-hating rebels and alpha males who believed their rights came from god. They weren't servile sissies who cowered in the face of danger.

Perfectly summarizes the mind set of self-proclaimed Trump fan "patriots". They like to wave the flag, but do nothing else for the country. It's just me, me, me.......

Agreed, and there is an even more appalling aspect to this selfishness which is the disparaging attitude with which they discount the growing death toll.

These deaths are not simply a matter of the elderly passing away peacefully in their sleep or with their loved ones nearby. Instead they are gasping for their last breath while all alone. Then to add insult to injury their cause of death is not even being accurately recorded because of the nefarious greed obsession to reopen the economy so as to give their Abdicator-in-Chief a second term.

The "normalization" of this horrendous death toll is the same way that GENOCIDE is "normalized".

To see it happening here of all places is obnoxious to say the least.

Yeah, there even was a thread on here with the proposal to stop counting any covid-caused deaths over 80 years old as covid deaths -- to make their leader's statistics look better (or lets say less bad). Loyalty to Trump comes before loyalty to their dying countrymen for these people.

They are not in the least bit patriotic because they place their odious cult leader above and beyond their country.

First of all, not a Trump supporter. I know this may come as a shock to you, but it's possible to disagree with partisan Democrats without supporting Trump. I'll give you a few moments to process that incredibly complex idea...

Okay, now that you've come to terms with the fact that "Republican" and "Democrat" are not the only political options in existence, let's move on to your next asinine belief.

When your definition of "we" simply means "slavish obedience to government authority", then I have zero interest in joining your dangerous and destructive cult, which has suspended basic freedoms indefinitely, plunged the global economy into a depression, put tens of millions of Americans out of work, added trillions of dollars to the debt, and funneled outrageous amounts of wealth to rent-seeking corporations. All because of a virus that has 0.5% fatality rate AT MOST, and which overwhelmingly kills infirm octogenarians wasting away in nursing homes, i.e., people who are going to die soon anyway.

There is simply no rationality among the doomsday cult. You've all gone so far out on a limb in support of these disastrous and fascist lockdowns that there is simply no turning back now. You will never admit how wrong you are, no matter how much evidence emerges contradicting your new religion.

When someone who is already extremely old and extremely sick dies, attributing a single "cause" of death is usually a gross oversimplification. It would be just as accurate to classify such deaths as "natural causes". Apparently, you "follow the science" people forgot that we all die eventually, that it's inevitable, and that the probability of dying increases substantially once you reach a certain age. The only reason you want these deaths classified as COVID deaths is because you're absolutely desperate to justify the insanely destructive and unsustainable policies you've foisted on the world. You've backed yourselves into a corner by supporting the most radical social and economic upheaval in our lifetimes. You have no exit strategy. You have no way out of this except to charge ahead blindly while castigating all skeptics and opponents.

It is Memorial Day 2020 and it is going to be remembered as the day when the count of Covid19 deaths went over 100,000.

As mentioned in the OP it was the FAILURE to wear masks that resulted in the more severe 2nd wave.

The first states to "reopen" their economies are knowing see a RISE in new cases and hospitalizations. The deaths will inevitably follow.

    https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2020/05/23/trum-m23.html

So the 2nd wave is essentially beginning before the 1st wave has ended.

    This could have been prevented!

It's totally predictable. Lots of people are out there acting like this is over. This is far from over. We'll have a rude awakening.

That was a lot of red print.

Worse yet, it was all important to read.

    Ouch.

Esp, and with no slight to any other state, CA because gee, there are only 40 million people who live there.....

I am thinking that your hypothese may end up being reality, with a moderate 1st wave rolling right into a much mightier second. I hope to G-d that I am wrong about this.
