    Yes, you keep saying that.

Why then do you and your ilk interminably respond to my posts?

    With good reason.

How can a nation like ours not pride itself on setting an example for the rest of the world? Especially America.

Good old fashioned blind patriotism. Anything thats for the greater good of the greater number. Fascism, Nazism, Communism, Socialism, what difference does it make to you? Any form of collectivism is nice: just so long as your allegiance is to the state of New Zealand.

I love how the posters here can't help but rely with angry rants.

Being on this thread drains them of any cool logical reasoning.

Now we know how much Americans like other peoples' oil.

And it looks as though we are going to have plenty of it. As the Middle East's supplies dwindle, Middle Earth's production will increase.

Of course, we also know that Americans won't be able to afford ours.

So we will have to sell it to China.

So, in less than 50 years, we will be sitting very pretty. Even prettier than we are now.

This coming from a country that sleeps with totalitarian oil producers all over the planet. Who's on top these days? You or the Saudis?

We spy on friendly countries for you, like Japan. I'm sure that will make you feel better.

    Back to the topic.

In 50 years Australia, having finally destroyed what's left of its own productive land, will have no food of its own.

It will have to import food (and probably water) from us or....Indonesia? And as we are probably the best agricultural country in the world (with heaps of water) and they are our cousins, we will succumb to their pleas for help.

Of course we will put a price on our altruism. After all, China is hungry too.

There is a debate going on in OZ about how many people they should have. (Currently they have about 25m.)

Some say 36m, some say 6m.

The economic argument favours 6 million. Read Collapse.

When Australia's minerals run out and it can no longer produce crops or livestock, its waters are polluted beyond redemption, and its fishing grounds are destroyed by toxic waste, its people will just become more of an embarrassment than they are now.:dog::dog::dog:

Refugees will apply for asylum from the countries from whence they came. Australians will flood Indonesian coasts on rickety craft.

I think New Zealand will become the first successful western socialist country and will show the rest of us the path to the true fulfilment of humanity's potential. And I'm not kidding and I'm not being sarcastic. I'm serious.

Um, we have 4.3 million people in a highly fertile country larger than Great Britain - which has 60+ million people.

Over-population is not one of our problems. Nor ever likely to be.

Frankly, I thank my lucky stars that I have been fortunate enough to live in such a lucky land.

It has lifestyle, relative wealth in material terms, a superb environment, and a dedication to human values in social and political life not generally found elsewhere.

I would not swap it for anywhere else.

In 50 years NZ will still be 300 miles above and to the left of Australia.

Which will be a remarkable change in our fortunes. Since we are currently 1200 miles to the south and right of Australia at the moment.

I have been to Australia and was surprised how much they are like Americans and I suspect will destroy their country the same as Americans are destroying theirs.
