    The asylum law, It is only persecution if you are an attacked minority and the attacker is your own government. Economic catastrophe wroght by the economic incompetence of your government does not count for access to asylum

    Likely they will be soon once Trumps machine remakes America into what he wants and we become an unattractive option to everyone (most of us included).

    Why do Europeans not immigrate to Russia?

    Let's understand that I am not a "leftist." I am a true Republican who believes in compassion for those less fortunate than us.
    True Republicans believe in family values and do not believe in separating children from their families for a misdemeanor.

    Aren't we ignoring the neglect and abuse the kids suffer by the hands of the parents? Kids being hefted atop moving trains for instance? Or being crammed into semi cargo trailers, and the trunks of cars? What's it like for kids who walk for days on end without food, water, shelter? Immigrants die making this journey. Parents endanger these kids. Those are the crimes the parents should be detained on.

    How would you know? There is no law that allows for separating children from their parents. This is Trump policy, not law.
    You Trumpists believe in the rule of law only when it is convenient.

    No, they get min wage jobs cause they have min wage skills. This leads them to getting handouts. These aren't doctors and engineers coming from central America, these are, in your words, "people living is squalor".

    No law huh? I guess all the American citizens in prison are there with their kids right?

    BTW, did you know America is the number 1 place to traffic kids for sex slavery? Are you willing to take the chance that the cholo with 15 kids by his side is coming to bring them to have a better life in America, or traffic them for sexual exploitation? There is a very big concern that the kids aren't really with their real parents, so for precaution, separation is imperative to make sure the kids aren't in danger.
