It's not a requirement to come to the United States if you need to leave your home country.

Asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution are supposed to present themselves as such to border agents in the first country they feel is safe. Mexico is a politically stable, semi developed democracy with no issues that would cause someone seeking asylum to be worried. There are two possibilities here.

    1. They're not truly in any danger in their home country. Their goal is to reach the US because it's a better place to live.

    2. They are claiming asylum in Mexico, and Mexico is unwilling to deal with it so the people seeking asylum are moved to the northern border.

Either way, the US is under no international obligation to take refugee cases because they're not fleeing or another country should have offered them asylum.

Mexico doesn't hand out food stamps, money to attend school, rent assistance, utility bill assist, free child care, EBT cards, and protection in sanctuary cities if you are a wanted criminal.

They can not support their families in Mexico because of poor conditions, and that is why they come here. They live in squalor.

What does that have to do with them reporting to an Embassy in Mexico? They are suppose to report to the first country they enter.

Ok so you’re fleeing persecution in your home country. You look at Mexico and the U.S. as possible destinations to request asylum.

Mexico is in a literal civil war with its own drug cartels. In addition, the country is poorer and has less prospects for making a decent living.

The U.S., though being led by the greatest embarrassment in its history right now, is still the most wealthy country on earth and enjoys general widespread safety, stability and rule of law. It has its fair share of ignorant, backwards ****wits but as long as you stay out of the rural areas chances are you will be fine.

Doesn’t seem like much of a choice. You’re trying to assign malignant intent to an obvious decision made out of a need for self preservation.

That however is not sufficient in and of itself to justify an asylum finding.

I have heard there are groups of American Progressive lawyers leading the immigration through Mexico to acheive their caause which is to upset the American Political system in favor of their ideology. These groups are funded by Soros related causes. Mexico, I understand, has a wall at Guatamala and would not tolerate illegal immigration with the intent to stay in Mexico. Not sure if they are so welcoming of "refugees".

If you are referring to the central American caravan, the group peaked at about 1,200 people, out of which around 150 of them sought asylum at the US/Mexican border.

Come get your free stuff. Other people are forced to pay for it. You will immediately be special, of far more value than a US citizen.

The UN clearly stated Refugees seeking asylum must do so with the First Country then Enter. That country's Government.

It does not say.....you can migrate thru one country to get to another to seek asylum.

The US just got rid of their greatest embarrassment. You know the utterer Stutterer that doesn't have a legacy anymore.

If drugs weren’t illegal there would be no cartels. Making them illegal is what drives their value into the stratosphere and what drives criminal elements to traffic they and use violence to protect their illegal business. The war on drugs created and enriched the cartels to an absurd degree.

The war on drugs is maybe the most baffling thing supported by conservatives. For a group of people who worship free market forces and personal responsibility, in this one instance you are bizarrely willing to dismiss personal responsibility and deny free market forces by banning a product outright.

Drug cartels exist because drugs are illegal. If drugs stopped being illegal, legitimate businesses would move in, the prices would drop into the pavement, quality control would appear, and cartels would stop pushing it because it’s not profitable anymore.

    It’s simple economics ;)

The answer is they're not asylum seekers. I read somewhere that 80% of asylum cases from central and south america are dismissed as frivolous.

    Ah here's one of them.

We should take all the welfare programs and set a hard cap on them.

For every person added to welfare, everyone elses check goes down to support the new member.

I wonder how long people would support illegal immigration.

You have just made the OP's point. They are seeking a better life, which is the exact goal of any immigrant, both legal and illegal. The only difference is that they are trying to game the system by falsely claiming refugee status. They really arent any different from any other illegal immigrant.

There IS a malicious intent in trying to game the system.

Mexico's welfare state is not anywhere near as generous, comprehensive or easy to access as America's.

that Mexico's leadership allows America's invaders to breach their borders and traverse their country unmolested should tell anyone with an IQ above room temperature that Mexico's leadership is wittingly or unwittingly colluding with America's treasonous GlobalistMarxistHumanistProgressiveSJWClowardPiveners to weaken and ultimately destroy the US as we know it (the rule of law/constitution, sovereignty, democratic process, economic system, social infrastructure/safety nets, law enforcement and justice systems, etc)
