We'll at least that's an honest opinion. But the POTUS hasn't failed to meet any legal obligation, and the kids treatment meets acceptable standards. I don't see any reason that I should be alarmed, or morally outraged.

This government doesn't take care of its own anyway, with $500,000 plane rides to Mara Largo every weekend and wasteful
money on a wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for, giving huge tax cuts to the wealthy instead of taking care of our needy.
These immigrants work here as handymen, waiters, farm workers, landscapers and don't bitch, moan, whine and complain.

Separating families is NOT the law.

This is a humane issue and nothing more. If you don't get it, then you have never been a parent unless you are a scofflaw.

Nafta is responsible for 3 million American jobs and cheaper prices for Americans, so don't knock it. Mexico is a third world country.

I am talking about a humanitarian crisis on our border today. Even your President reversed himself today for whatever his reason,
    compassion not being it.

You think that the inhumane and heinous treatment of these children meets acceptable standards? Shame on you.

172 million people live in Mexico and support their families.

    Why are these guys different?

There is nothing common sense about this, nor is it compassionate. There are people ACTUALLY starving, elsewhere.

Great. Next time I make a stupid decision, I'll be sure to make someone else suffer the consequences. Hopefully, innocent children.

Actually, you'll end up no better than Russia if you let 'em all in. If you want to retain a wealthy, anglo-christian lifestyle, you simply need to close your borders. We've done it, and we're nowhere near turning in to Russia.

These are the poor and many families in Mexico just live there and suffer. They want a safer, better life for their children.

You are right. There is nothing compassionate about the treatment of these people.

As a Trump supporter, you would do just that. Of course, these people didn't make a stupid decision. Their decision was based on their desperate need for safety and a better life.

Heh, I'm glad you think he "reversed" himself. He actually trolled the media by issuing an EO to explore going around the Flores v. Reno consent decree. But that will play out over time...

As to our border crisis today, are you then arguing that anyone who rushes our border should be able to stay? Since you're unconcerned with actual US law, I'm trying to figure out what your limits, if any, are on people invading our country.

They never consider the implications of their Brilliant Ideas. It's all about the immediate feels .. to hell with consequences.

And you think that allowing the third world to stream into America unchecked, will somehow be magically idyllic? Without one second of thought given to HOW America ended up so attractive to these people? Hint: it wasn't by allowing the third world to stream into America unchecked.

If the extent of your 'compassion' is bleating at govt (ie, someone else - not you) to give the poor peasants a warm bed so that you feel better today, then we're not even in the same book, much less on the same page.

They never consider that they think they won a victory, when they don't even realize what the executive order does:

"Mr. Trump’s executive order directed the government’s lawyers to ask for a modification of an existing 1997 consent decree, known as the Flores settlement, that currently prohibits the federal government from keeping children in immigration detention — even if they are with their parents — for more than 20 days."

Believe it or not, the progressives on this forum used to have smart, informed arguments. Now it's all "SKRREEEEE TRUUMMMP!"

When they got religion, all bets were off. Being Progressive, back in the day, was actually reasonably close to holding a sort of quasi moral high ground. Back then, we didn't give any time to First World Problems, nor care what your politics were. We were about trying to deal with the practicalities; education for all, clean drinking water, reducing pollution, addressing overcrowding, feeding the starving, ending wars, etc.

lets not forget many of the problems originate with US interference in their countries, decades of propping up dictators and then there was the USA's ridiculous war on drugs that fueled the rise of drug cartels in those countries...want to stop the migration of desperate people trying to escape the social hell their countries have become then help those countries get on their feet...treat the disease not the symptoms...
