That's a wild claim. Your perception of the relative safety afforded by one possible refuge -vs- another doesn't make any difference. Parents are obligated both legally, and morally to provide food, shelter, and physical comfort to their children. The reasons or parental rationale behind the abuse and neglect is irrelevant. If Mecicans can't claim asylum in the US because of violence, or oppression, why would transients who pass through the "relatively" safe enviroment Mexico offers, be accepted as refugees?

There is something rotten about this illegal immigration stuff. They could easily get these people to stop swarming and breaching our borders by: 1. Cutting off social services to all new comers.
2. Implementing E-Verify. 3. Using the money we saved by cutting them off social services to build a wall. 4. Suing employers who hire them. 5. Insist they speak English. 6. Insist they show proof of income of at least $2000/month like we have to do when we move to Mexico. 7. Let people in based on the merit system which would exclude most illegals. I'm sure I'm leaving a few things out, but my point is that it would be easy to stop them from coming here soaking up tax payers money, driving down wages, and changing the very fabric of the American culture.
So why don't we do even one of the above? For conservatives it is about the potential for cheap labor and a chance to break the unions once and for all. For democrats it is about cheap labor too, but also about ensuring a huge democratic voter base.
There is also something strange about the way they our government never addresses illegal immigration by the Asians, especially the Chinese who plop out anchor babies as soon as they get here. Why is that?

Its all about the New World --a world without borders, where corporations make us compete for jobs with each other thereby driving wages down to practically nothing. It's all about a class system in which there is no longer a middle class. Its about a sociological system in which there are no races. Its about the wealthy getting wealthier and the middle class being obliterated.
