    It can only be the People who are well regulated and connected with militia service as explained in paragraph (2) of DC v. Heller.

    In my opinion, this is a very good question which the People of the State of New York deserve an answer to; especially if they do not want to be denied and disparaged in their privileges and immunities.

    Article XII, New York Constitution:

    Well it is a failure of the people. They let it get this far and they can deal with it.

    In my opinion, they should start insisting on a literal interpretation of our Second Amendment and their own State Constitution as enumerated in Article XII; instead of wasting their tax monies on a War on Crime.

    Good line. I had an English teacher tell me once "if it can't fit on a bumper sticker, it's not worth writing."

    American Citizens are doing their best not to allow criminals and their horrific acts dictate, define or limit our personal freedoms and choices. . What follows was inadvertently posted in a blog that seems mis-titled but does offer a short answer to your op question;

    "Like" is not a word I would choose. In a word, what comes to mind- value, treasure, blessing etc.

    1.) There would never have been a United States of America with all its promise of liberty for her citizens without firearms.
    2.) It was included in the US Federal Constitution to afford the People a defense against (an unrestrained force empowered by a dark and selfish nature) tyranny.
    3.) Because it is an American right.
    4.) It is industrial art, functional and (some) aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

    I see it as a useful and indispensible tool when needed. In addition, an equalizer for anyone physically confronted by a superior force. At the very least, it gives pause to an aggressor concerned or surprised by someone using one with a defensive mindset.

    I have an extinguisher in my home not because there is a fire but in the event there might be one (effective only if discovered in the incipient stage).

    I have a first aid kit in case of injury not because I am expecting to be injured.

    An ounce of prevention...

    Only my opinion but I hope this gives you a more informed perspective why we Americans treasure and are supportive of each blessing enumerated in our Bill of Rights.

    Which can be a good effect.............................fail. Perhaps one reason we have less violent crime here than there. And did I miss the live targets they use in Olympic shooting?
