If anyone would like to get deeper within this conflict, then I recommend you study the origin of the Albanian language, study the old city names around Kosova, and then see what you come up with.

I'm Albanian and I don't hate Serbs and neither do I hate Greeks for that matter. I think only someone who is completely and utterly ignorant and who has no common sense would claim that Serbs are all butchers and filled with hate and that Albanians are all criminals, backward, thick .....I could go on. A few bad apples on the tree does not mean that the whole crop is rotten! Referring back to history has done us no favours!

I think people need to have an open mind and apply some common sense. It's very easy to make provocative claims against a nation and to go along with it. But the best of us should know better since, such rhetoric has many times led to conflict and bloodbaths.

ps. By the way we don't need 5 pages of history lesson on a forum. No body reads them and most of the time they're inaccurate. If I want history I buy a history book!

 

You say that because you are from Albania, not Kosovo. Native Albanians (Albanians from their motherland) happen to be much more open minded. Kosovar Albanians, or at least a vast majority of them, are filled with hate and are taught to blame the Serbs for everything, but in fact, the real truth lies within the bad economic situation down there. With or without Serbs, Kosovar Albanians are very very poor and there lies "the catch". It's very easy to make a poor man believe that somebody else is guilty for his situation.

 

I want my tax dollars out of this region. What these people do to each is not the concern of the US.

 

If you had had real democracy in your country, USA would've never stepped on Balkan soil. But you forget the fact USA is a farce of a democracy when it comes to foreign policy, which is planned, influenced and conducted by small groups of dominant men, easy to bribe, and who couldn't care less about US citizens' tax money. The only care they have, and the only belief they are led by, is how to get their pockets heavier. US public is to see and know what is important to get support of their projects. Those groups rely on corporate media in the US to achieve their goals and deceive US citizens of the need of spending their tax money on some idealistic fights for human rights and democracy, or WMDs, or Bin Laden's, or crap like that.

I'll try to answer this question from my point of view and to clarify this confusion!
When one Serb has in mind and says for example (pls no one to jump here it's an explanation) for them shiptars or albos very few have in mind people who live in Albania proper but those who live outside of their country.Coming from that region and being there for 30 years (during all conflicts and bombing) I must say that Macedonians and Greeks have same feeling for Albanians who are outside of their mother country so it's not exclusive feeling of the Serbs. More to it, since I have friends in Slovenia, I know for fact that they are not sympathetic to them also etc etc. All in all, I can't say that any of the countries in the region (talking about common people) find them as nice and easy going people but complete opposite, which speaks for it self.
If we for a moment forget about the past and focus on the future only, we'll see that there is no bright future in region and I'll try to explain on a very simple way-via few very recent articles or news from the region (July/August this year only):

This is just a small part of the news I can post here for members to read and to understand the situation on the ground which is not good at all.In Greece, for now, they are relatively quiet (Greece is the member of NATO as well as EU) although I heard that they increased number to half million. So, please, try to understand that the story doesn't end with Kosovo and Metohija but it's the whole part around it. It's not going to end up in a nice way and I strongly believe, no matter who is the favored side by West, until we, people from the region are not allowed to settle things on our own, things can go just from bad to worse in no time.Bubble will burst and it's just a question of time.
To repeat, it's not just the beef between Serbs and Albanians (the ones who live outside of their mother country) but between all countries who have a borders with them!Serbia was just first in the line...

I find it amazing how one dimmensional most Serbs seem to be about Albanians. The hate has never come from us, but from you who have been brainwashed for generations and generations and seem to have an inbred hatred about a nation who has done no harm to ANY of its neighbours but has always been on the receiving end.

After starting debating with some users, I seriously have decided to give up thinking we have some rational thinkers around here when it comes to these situations. They seem to always be one-sided. It's no use. It has hit them to the core of their brain.

It could be understandable that everybody is different and I can not help how others are behaving. They are themselves and I am simply me.

 

Of course that they are polite, no one said differently but none of them disputed articles and situation but gave some statements to twist it, like "cherry picking" etc. which is not true!
Situation in the region is very serious, dangerous and that's the way it is!!!Why do we need to ignore it ? This is political forum after all but if all agree to ignore situation then Ok...

 

Lena, Makkede has asked on this thread why Albanians and Serbs hate each other. Yet, you instead presented the countries on your post as hateful toward the Albanians. Isn't that cherry picking? It is not about how many countries hate Albanians. It's the question of individuality. It is not about ignoring the situation, it is about understanding that both countries went through tough times and perhaps it is time to let bygones be bygones and live in peace.

No I didn't present other countries instead of Serbia. Please, go back and read carefully...First thing I did was to answer to the question very directly and only after it I added others just to see the bigger picture (among 5 articles I posted, 3 were related to South of Serbia proper). Instead to open few threads and clutter this forum I posted it all together.
