    This.

I think the OP's assumption that Germany is a Superpower is hilarious.

    LMAO!

Uhm, Germany gets no foreign aid from the USA whatsoever.

In fact, the USA is still partly occupying the country.

Americans troops out of Europe, ASAP!

    Militarily speaking, yes.

However, nowadays Berlin decides who's going to be the next President of the United States: (1) Obama or (2) not Obama.

There's a reason why Obama is on the phone with Merkel multiple times a week.

I think we have to define a superpower. Military superpower? No. Financial and industrial superpower? Yes, at least more so than the US and many other countries. And considering they only have about 80 million people, thats pretty respectable.

You have a point here, but on the other hand you don't.

It only makes things even more difficult to understand the success of Germany after WWII.

Operation Paperclip assured that all the best Germans brains and know-how was sent to the USA, the UK and the Soviet Union. The scale of it all is pretty mindblowing.

Then we still have the immense German war reparations:

I get what you are trying to say here but some might not.

"hard working" doesn't nessecarily mean working long hours, there are many people I know who work 60 hours a week but do very little during that time.

There are people I know who work 37.5 hours a week and get as much done as someone working 60 would.

You can be working "smarter" and "harder" and therefore get more done in 40 hours than someone working 60. Having spent time in Germany, I suspect that this is exactly what is happening here.

Most of the time, yes. Some of your social policies are rather strange though.

I would say European social policy tends to be just as dominated by special interests as ours can be.

Germans work better than Americans. Quality is the expectation. I think Americans work harder, but quality is lower.

It definitely would. There is no way the American public would stand for separating kids based on ability in the 8th grade.

What- they can tighten a bolt on an assembly line better than an American can?

And to you all conspirasts- Germany has nukes. Deal with it. It's not even the point of this thread so stop wasting time on that.

Yeah they don't need 3 union members to do it. And the bolt is tightened the exact same way every time to reduce inconsistancies.

Obviously I'm being a bit pendantic here, but there is a reason people think German goods are better quality than American/Chinese, it's not just engineering.

Pretty much... Even though it's a practical move, people would scream about "discrimination."

    LOL! Source?

The only nukes Germany has are the American nukes we have on their soil. Those dont count.

No, Germany has no nukes other than ours.

Germany is the eight year old kid who brings his 15 year old brother with him to deal with a bully. They are well protected.

It's the 15 year old brother that is doing the heavy lifting though. The kid is just along for the ride.

Ya, the weird thing is you're the only "conspirasts" here, since it's a well known fact that Germany doesn't posses it's own nuclear weapons.

    Here's a list for you.

    1. America
    2. Russia
    3. China
    4. France
    5. UK
    6. India
    7. Pakistan
    8. Possibly Israel
    9. And maybe Iran shortly.
    10. North Korea has atomic weapons, but no delivery system as of yet.

See, Germany is no part of the list of Nuclear states. Howerver they are under the NATO nuke sharing program, that being said they still do not posses their own nukes, those are provided by the United States, which also happens to maintain operational control of such weapons.
    Heres a source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons

At this point, and with all the evidence of common knowledge(except in your case), one would admit that they were wrong with they're assertion that Germany had their own nukes. In your case I'm not going to hold my breath, since you seem to have difficulties admitting that you are wrong.

While capitalism was kept going - at considerable cost in taxes - by the arms economy in the world as a whole they and the Japanese weren't allowed significant armaments, so they could spend it on industry and win markets while kept prosperous by the victors' military version of Keynesianism.

What will the Yanks do if Germany decides to build its own nuclear weapons?

If Israel and North Korea can have them, why not Germany?

    Or, for that matter, Iran.
