The choice was:

1) killing many in NK (which began the war), or
2) accept NK rule over SK, and live under the government in Pyongyang.

This is a no-brainer.

 

There was no need to level every building in the country killing 3 million innocent people.

What I notice is ferigners like Americans, they just really hate the gov't.
When they hate America, it is about the policies of economic and political dominion they object.
They understand better than Americans the gov't goes around the world toppling governments as it chooses. From Latin America to Iran, the Middle East, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. Before WW2 we just kept those activities in the Western (Monroe Doctrine) Hemisphere. Since WW2, the whole globe. Figure 2 decades after toppling a gov't you have a new generation of adults who really, really hate
But, they still love our movies, Levis, tobacco, etc.

 

Good point. Seems there's a whole lot to love about USA and a whole lot to dislike.
Obviously I love more than I dislike. I feel the freedom too speech is a great thing the freedom to bare arms....well Australia went in reverse on that one when an idiot mowed down 35 innocent men women and children 20 years ago. It hasnt stopped the black market gun trade, just robbed a lot if people if their hibby. One of those things whereby you never know the benefits.
I think a previous poster said its about dominance...why people hold resentment.

Having retired from the military and having been in almost 40 countries around the world, I think I am entitled to try and answer. Americans are not a race, first of all, it is a culture. A culture that defies most other countries cultural norms...I have visited Australia and New Zealand, beautiful country, but far too many animals, snakes and spiders that can kill you for my taste. I did enjoy diving the Great Barrier Reef, and swimming with the whale sharks.

As for the US being the world's policemen, you have to understand that most of the time it is requested by the country or by the UN for the US to intervene. Kuwait and S. Vietnam requested our intervention, the UN requested us in Korea, and Bosnia...The UN and NATO are toothless without the US military...

As for the turmoil in our country over race, religion, sex, etc. Like any family, there will be arguments, disagreements and such. But when you see things like 9-11, natural disasters within and without our borders, the American people are the most generous whether with money or their time or both.

The problem I see with the view of the American people is that many judge by what they see on TV, how many that judge us have ever been in the presence of an American for any length of time? If you want to see a movie that I believe explains it well, it is "Enemy Mine". where 2 races at war with each other, end up stranded on the same planet having to rely on each other. There is a point where 'Louis Gossett's' alien character says something derogatory about Mickey Mouse, whom his culture believes is a great God or leader of our country. Many things about us Americans are only seen through the eyes of the entertainment industry which is not exactly reality...How do you think you would be viewed if every American viewed British and Australians by watching "Mr. Bean"?

 

For any aggressor it wouldn't make sense to level every building in a country which they hope to take over, so maybe the era of ballistic warfare is over? So as far as we Brits are concerned, we didn't need two shiny new aircraft carriers nor the upgrade of Trident, meaning even more decades of so-called austerity. Hold that thought?

Yeah, the US will take Israeli Jews over Middle Eastern Muslims any time. It really is surprising to me how much animosity there still is toward that group of people across the Atlantic. Israel is a great military ally as well.

USA is hated, for being the dominant nation.
That makes everyone else it's bitch and no one else likes that.

It's hated because it's so well known. It's a celebrity nation. It's news is world news.
So more of us have an opinion on it.

And thirdly it's hated because if negatively affects so many people. It has global reach.
Even though it also positively affects so many more people, in the end the numbers of people they piss off is cumulative. Ever growing.

 

Isn't it comical? Our culture is more diverse than any. No other country invents like we do or is as productive as we are. But the most laughable part of it is proclaiming a country of idiots dominate the globe while oblivious as to what that implies about everyone else.

If countries don't like or agree with what my country does and fails to fight against what they think is wrong or unjust, they participate in whatever we do. There is a famous quote, "
