Preaching is what I do. As often as I get preached to around here, though, most of them have it coming.
God isn't real. When you die you rot int he ground. There is no heaven, no guardian angles, and you will be eaten by worms.
1. All you do is fling personal insults and declare yourself "the winner of the debate" ....and never are able to actually discuss your "statements". Is it "false" that Christianity teaches that if you love God, you go to Heaven....but if you don't love God, you go to Hell???? Yes or No? 2. YOU said you acted as "Clergy" at some Baptist church? In what capacity are you "clergy"? Or was that a false claim?
In what capacity? Are you an ordained minister? A priest of the Catholic Church? Not asking for your name or what town or church....just a simple explanation?
I have really tried to avoid this thread because of some of my fundamentalist brothers and sisters, but I really love the above statement and I think it is very accurate. Other than that I have enough to deal with while I'm living in this old body where the issue of hell really isn't a big concern. I recently heard another interesting statement, "live a hellish life, have a hellish afterlife." May be a lot of truth to that.
Which is all fine, and much better than the whole eternal torture thing, but it does leave a big question: why the arbitrary (pardon the pun) deadline? If an angel can fall from heaven to hell for rejecting God, why can't a soul rise from hell to heaven for accepting Him? I mean, if Christians are right, then no sane person possessed with all the facts would chose hell, right?
Shouldn't be that hard. Just do as usual and make things up. Afterall, you made up the entirety of what you are. And that you did not refute.
That is a million dollar question, and a very good one. There is a ton of theology wrapped up in your question, and I won't bore anyone with it. What I will say is the Near Death accounts that are widely published do give an answer for that. That a person can come to God after his or her physical life, the key in their beliefs is learning to love, and accepting love. I'm no endorsing or refuting this belief. Some theology leans argues eternal salvation for all people, and this will drive the fundamentalist crazy, again it is a slippery slope. One thing unlike my younger Christian friends, I have learned that I don't have all the answers, and the more I do learn, the more I realize I don't know.
Well of course if hell is estrangement from God then I am living it now and would gladly enjoy it for all eternity.
So I guess we can assume that only the losers who can't make it the real world and have to find their place in the rigid hierarchy of the military are the only emotionally strong.
Most of the NDE stuff I've read has to do with universal salvation. Needless to say, that isn't popular among more orthodox Christians, but I see quite a bit of beauty in it.
Many Jewish sects believed in reincarnation, another-words, if you didn't get it right this time around, your back again for more training or maturing. Paul in one of his writing stated he seen a soul that had been a murder reincarnated, that can be found in the Nag Hammabi scrolls, they are first hand accounts by the disciples including Mary, Jesus's friend. She is referred to as his companion in those scrolls. There was a little conflict between her and Peter. They aren't easy to read because they are direct Greek translations so some of the sentence structure and wording will seem strange to most that only speak or know English, and the scrolls are fragmented so parts are missing.
He would rather not have you do it, (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) OP...you must be in pretty thick with god to know what he would rather do!
The military has some to do with the wussification of America. We're being wussified too. But no, average, everyday wimps of America are the new norm. Whining all over the place. Starting to get the sense it's about to start with your defensive comment
