Will you Please Wear A Mask Now

This cannot be posted in enough places. You may not understand it, but perhaps one or two people will pause and think a moment.

 

Recommending mask wearing, and not forcing it, is how retailers are supposed to go about the mask issue. Costco is a great example of what not to do. Let the mask wearing people wear their masks, and the people who don't, don't. Store makes money either way. Walmart is one of the few stores I live near that gets the mask policy correct.

 

So is that how you feel the no shirts/no shoes policy should work? I, personally, cannot wait to see a 400-pound each couple wandering through Costco without shoes & shirts. (Hopefully underwear will be in play.)

I love how you "regulations suck! let business decide!" group love that mantra, right up until the moment you're asked to wear a mask for 15-minutes.

 

If I thought I was an actual risk to the general public, then my decision making would be different. I had urgent matters that had to take place at the doctors yesterday, and I didn't feel like confronting their anal personalities so I wore a mask there, but that's been the only errand I've run with a mask on. Where do I get the confidence to go out like this? Because I don't have pre-existing conditions, the numbers show a higher chance of recovering than dying from COVID, I might be sick as a dog for maybe 1, 2 weeks but that's it. That goes into the decision making as well. The weirdest mask wearers I find are those who wear masks when they are alone in the car.

Couldn't that rationale be placed on any disease? Thousands die from influenza every year, as well as pneumonia, especially in countries not as developed as the US. Where is the outrage from the mask police over those diseases? Because they make people sick enough to stay home? Because we happen to have a vaccine we think works for those diseases? Are we supposed to make exceptions for certain diseases and not others? Diseases kill people, some less than others and some more so than others, but the world would never move on if we shut countries down over every disease that stole the light.

 

No influenza outbreak since 1918 has been ANYTHING like this one

I can't believe after all these weeks that some people still haven't bothered to take the ten minutes needed to understand why masks are important. I can't believe you went to a doctor. Your post indicates doctors are idiots, so why?

No one said masks aren't important, the issue is when you try to force people to wear them. As said before, much more have recovered than died from COVID so honestly, I'm not afraid of the disease.

Don't you see that we are basically done with the virus.
The deaths count at its minimal.
The number of tested in tenth of millions.
The current number of deaths / positively tested ratio is about 0.001%.

Well, it's rather obvious from your posts that you are not a scientist, so, we can be done, now. You are one of the reasons that many states have to go on lock down again. We have overwhelming evidence that the masks work, but, muh freedom.

I get you don't like masks, but you're really going to hate the ventilator.

 

You know wearing a mask is minimal protection, don't you? If droplets of covid-19 infected bodily fluids land on your mask you get it anyway?

 

And you just discovered this now? You're about 5 months late to this discussion.,.. That is not what masks are for.

Next step for you is to find out why masks are necessary. That would put you only about 4 months behind.

You should start learning about this pandemic from somebody other than Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.

 

You should look into friction and what it does to things that are moving around. Fascinating stuff.

 

I was recently in the hospital and asked one of my nurses about some labels (with the days of the week on them). She said employees have to have their temperature taken before every shift but they only are required to change their mask every THREE days. That means a mask is probably worn (12 hour shift x 3 days =) 36 hours.

They were the paper 3-ply kind but, still, that surprised me. I'm not a germaphobe but I'd probably not want to take a used masked home or wear it more than one day. I wish I bought some stocks in toilet paper and paper masks!

It is not about you getting the virus, it is about you spreading the virus. A asymptomatic person can spread the virus, a freshly infected person, without any symptoms jet, will spread the virus.
Masks of any kind reduce how far aerosols fly, no mask around 12 feet, with mask to around 2-3 feet.
That's what it is all about.
Reduce the spread.
Besides if you get this bastard of a virus, its not 1-2 weeks, its 4 - 6 weeks and afterwards you will have to deal with several health issues. Some for the rest of your live.
