Casualties from the coronavirus failure will not persist for years. Scientists will devise a response, and public-health experts will make it stick. But Trump, who continues to encourage reckless behavior that will lead to additional loss of life, will make the death toll far higher than it should have been. You posted this before. The "new deaths" chart doesn't mean anything when discussing total deaths.

 

Another reason that the 60,000+ Americans dead from Covid is comparable to the 60,000+ dead from Vietnam?

But I see you are still trying to downplay the threat of this virus by pretending that CDC chart means that those people who died with Covid and pneumonia are not actually being killed by Covid. Which is disgusting and idiotic because Covid causes pneumonia.

If you counted Influenza deaths the way that you count Covid-19 deaths, then the single deadlist year of the flu killed around 15,600 people.

If flu deaths were counted like COVID-19 deaths, the worst recent flu season evidently killed 15,620 Americans

 

Seeing as how you can't determine the "total" without accounting for the "new," then yea...it means a lot.

 

Trump admin. is trying to down play the Covid deaths and search for any distinctions like indirect causes so they now reason falling out of a 20 story window doesn't kill you....it's the landing that kills you.

 

The media and the Democrats would count a person with CV-19 falling out a 20-story window as a CV-19 death.

The CDC data differentiates between Covid19, Pneumonia only, and Covid19 caused pneumonia.
