this could come to happening i hope not, but russia just countered today and is withdrawing embassy staff
    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/28/world/europe/us-russia-sanctions.html
this tit for tat will only escalate into a large war if we don't stop screwing with russias economy. we have become intertwine in the EUs global affairs and nato is getting us in trouble and we our sticking our noses into that area. we need to back off some and stop this before the its to late and we going down that river! to far to turn back

Oh, we can outsurvive these sanctions. But if you think your government crosses lines of rationality - tell it to these "servants of the people". Make a petition, gather a rally. Show that you are concerned.

    Only without violence.

Oh please, this is not war.

The definition of war does not and will not change over to trade deals. Over time deciding to trade with a country or not has been a great and peaceful way to show the other country that you disagree with something they are specifically doing.

No country has to trade with you, just because you say so, that is childish to assume.

I do however, think the majority of these sanctions being pushed GREATLY by the Democratic party are some type of retribution to Russia handing negative yet TRUE information over to the Republicans. This type of thing is definitely not a good trend to see happening as it is a dangerous way to try to "get your way".

As I have said before, they may be pissed off at how the information came out, but it is true. Democrats themselves have been the biggest advocate of whistle blowers, then when one BIG ONE happens against them, they go out of their mind and use any justification they can to call the other side evil and much worse. The Left was the one pushing closer ties with Russia, while the right urged caution. Now the right is urging caution and the left is calling them the new Nazi's of the world.

If you cannot see the obvious politicizing in that, I don't know what to say.

I am in favor of the UN looking into Crimea themselves and seeing how we can move past these sanctions.

Sure, it's just that these sanctions for years meddle with business affairs of our country's business enterprises, including those with third parties not tied to USA. Driving businesses bancrupt, ruining lives of people loosing jobs. My uncle had to sell his apartment and spent almost a year seeking a good deal while lived in a rented apartment - because two of banks he had loans from called loans back due to bancrupcy because of sanctions. He and his wife spent euight years turning this apartment into a home of their dream, ronovating it by their own hands, with love and care. To then sell it because somebody took loans in wrong moment and then lost job and then loans been called back and this somebody was unable to pay them back because job market got overflown with people from failed enterprises.

As I said - we will survive that, this is normal for market economy for only fittest to survive. Big corporations grow in strength, while minor enterprises fail, but then again this does happen. Not the end of the world - just end of somebody's dreams and plans for future. At least at that point I do not see people claiming that sanctions only affect the people and enterprises they target directly, people understand that they harm ALL of our economy, and just approve ruining other country as much as possible in the name of economic and political hegemony.

Still - we will survive. We will keep standing.

Still not war my friend, to try to call it that is disingenuous at best.

If the problems were REALLY that big a deal (you yourself said they are not) the people would do something about their government and the decisions it has made. Sanctions are a reaction to something the other country has done, to ignore that is also disingenuous at best.

If Russia were willing to handle Crimea differently, I am sure the sanctions would be applied differently as well. Up to this point, Russia has basically given the world the middle finger and said "Too bad". To think sanctions are over the top is pretty naive.

Yes, on Russia's ECONOMY. This is more pro war propaganda that we see pushed out of Russian leaders all too often.

That is like saying if you do not sell us T-50's that is an act of war.

    Please....

I agree, your ides are as comical as a "Space Opera" written 50 years ago, involving a magical "force" that controls everything in the universe producing a line in the sane between good and evil.

Well, not many people feel any guilt for annexation of Crimea. Either people just trust government or know by experience it really can be real that they wanted to be part of Russian Federation, and conflict in Ukraine is not under our control. Even IF government of ours supports rebels by supplies and weapons - that is not done openly, and if not proven - and so far it still is not properly proven, I haven't seen yet a "proof" that I would've not been able to debunk - it cannot serve as reason for any action taken by people.

We had rally against corruption of prime minister, we had rally demanding more attention from government to will of people. We have removed our obmudsman Astakhov from office via petition, we do speak when we have what to speak about.

What is to speak about there? "We do not like USA ruining our business and lives via sanctions, do something about it"? What can people demand there? Nearly nobody - including me - approves pushing Crimea away or witnessing kievan government massacring the rebels in name of "sovereignity" via coup. Then what? Demanding move violent retaliation, military subjugation of USA? You can guess that not many people approve that either.

So what do you expect us to do, then?

By the way, fun fact - yesterday was a monthly drill for personnel of metropoliten, with check of voice message for passengers, like these:

So just in case - at least we can rely on our shelter system being operational. ...so-o-o hope it'll never be needed for use...

Russia deserves far more than what has been imposed, and WWIII is not in the cards. Putin has not got the gonads or the capability.
