Consider the two sources of the glee, neither is known as a class act.

A fetus is not born, that phase of development is past.

No, they really did not. Evidence suggests that women had just as many abortions before then, illegal abortions were replaced with legal ones when abortion was decriminalized. The legality of abortion has little to do with the numbers in any country. Some countries, for instance Canada, have a lower rate of abortion even though they have little regulation and in the case of Canada, none at all. Other countries have severe restrictions but still have a higher rate.

Actually I suggest you look up the medical procedure of abortion.

Miscarriage and abortion BOTH have the same meaning. In the medical sense, the term abortion and the term miscarriage both refer to the termination of pregnancy before the fetus is capable of survival outside the uterus.

Abortion: In medicine, an abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why that pregnancy was lost.

Miscarriage - A miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of a pregnancy from conception to 20 weeks' gestation.

What you are referring to is an induced abortion.

Again and as usual pro-lifers attempt to interchange "human life" with person as if they mean the same thing, and interchange the human adjective with the human noun .. disingenuous as ever.

This has been pointed out to you numerous times before, you have no base line to make the statement that abortions "exploded" between 1969 & 1973 for the simple reason there are NO official records on abortions prior to 1973, extrapolations from hospital records place the number of illegal abortions prior to Roe ranging from 200,000 to 1.2 million, these are not accurate figures and such any comparison to them and now is filled with wishful thinking and inaccuracy.

The intelligent thinking is that illegal abortions were far more widespread than imagined, simply because to adhere to your explosion myth the assumption must be made that suddenly pregnant women started queuing up for abortions when they became legal .. do you really believe that social and culture attitudes to abortion changed so very quickly .. if you do you are deluded.

Legally yes, just as they do in Canada . .the question you have to answer is would a woman who has gone through 8 1/2 months of pregnancy suddenly wake up and decide to have an abortion, based on Canada's data the answer to that question is an unequivocal NO.

The assertion that something should be illegal simply because it MIGHT happen is illogical, if it were the case then guns should be banned because someone MIGHT kill someone else illegally, driving should be banned as it MIGHT lead to a drunk person driving and killing someone .. and so it would go on.

Laws are not made on possibilities.

It costs around $10,000 per day to treat a very premature baby in an ITU, depending the amount of care needed. Who would be paying for that?

You know you are going to be accused on putting money before life now don't you . .which is ironic really considering the number posting here who want to remove welfare ergo put money before life.

she may of died giving birth too, Abortion does not always save the life of a women whose life is at risk from giving birth... sad case

many die giving birth too.. it's just reality, when we can grow babies safer in the lab... will we ban natural child birth cause sometimes a women dies or is injured? of course not...

Ironically had she aborted during the first term... she would still be alive today..... there are some though that say she should not of had that choice....

    No there is just sex.

Yes and before that it wasn't, and even when it was supposed to be "taboo" abortions still happened.

mostly due to the religious fraternity and the "slut shaming" campaign.

It would have happened with or without the baby boomers.

Thankfully that consequence is no longer a life-long sentence. The fact that you allude to abortion being a flippant thing women just shrug off says a lot about what you think of women.

Far from being something a male could "fix", it freed women from shotgun marriages.

It should never have become a taboo in the first place, ask yourself why it became a taboo .. it had nothing to do with protecting the fetus BTW.

Again ask yourself why it became shameful, what made abortion a shameful thing?

If you are going to cite 53 million then you need to know how many abortions occurred in the time it was illegal, do you know how many there were?

I'm all for tearing down social taboos that are restricting to a specific group, abortion being one, SSM being another.

    Freedom.

You already know the answer that will go some way to reducing that don't you .. comprehensive sex education and ALL contraceptives being free at source.

I do, less women being forced into marriages, less women dying from illegal abortions, less kids being born into families that don't want them.

If this were true, then the birth rate would have fallen dramatically, and it didn't.

Not true, people were having more reckless sex, hence the need for more abortions. The two went together.
The prevalence of abortion did not affect the birth rate between married couples.

    Source, please.

Not everyone who has an unintended pregnancy aborts. In fact, only about 40% of them are terminated. http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/FB-Unintended-Pregnancy-US.html So, there would be a dramatic decrease in the birth rate had RvW caused a higher abortion rate.

They aren't pro-life. They are pro-life-that-meets-their-approval. These same two folks had plenty to say about how terrible it was that we were taking care of those children coming over the border last year. You know, when the US government were being monsters by providing shelter, food and water, and health care to children.

It make sense. Those kids had aged out of their compassion.

They are also folks who regularly have oh so insightful things to say about black people. But they are genuinely concerned about black people getting abortions, oh yes they are! Genuinely concerned.

500,000 women died in the world every year of pregnancy and labor complications.

If so, with the OPs reasoning shouldn't not abortion be outlawed given the apparent deep concern for 1 woman due an abortion?
