In principle, an an intellectual level, I'd say yes. If she had the physical appearance of an attractive woman and acted in a manner that I associate with the type of woman I like, then I'd have no problem with her not being a genetic female. That said, I just don't know if it'd feel right (not in a moral sense of "right") on an instinctual level.
It would depend on the circumstance, the main circumstances being as to whether I found them attractive and they did the same.
I already have. Enjoyed it a great deal. And once I dated a nun, and enjoyed that too. I doubt I would court either one, but dating is fine.
Never. I don't care what they have mentally told themselves they are, they are what they were born as. I don't care if a surgeon can cut away their penis, they are then a man with a missing penis. There is no proof of this 'man trapped inside a women's body' BS. It's just a term. I would treat this as a clear mental dysfunctional behaviour and given support in accordance with that, excluding an actual operation.
I`d be very suspicious if a woman treated me that way. I`d constantly be looking around for her guide dog. I digress, I like women the way nature, no other way, but that`s me. What others do is their business, but no, I wouldn`t date a transvestite.
I wonder what people consider a "date" in this poll. If it's just going out for a meal, or doing some activity together like, say, bowling, then what's the objection?
So then why does this stop at gender? Why does it not also apply to race, age, species, and even identity? I've never heard anyone even try to logically answer this. They always just duck and run. Because these questions appear to trip up their argument.
Well, I wouldn't just because I'm married, but in a hypothetical situation where I was back in the dating scene, I think I could, but like you, she would have to not have any of her former male part. I'm too much of a taco fan.
How does supporting the rights of others to be treated equally under the law but not dating someone who you are not attracted to make someone a hypocrite or homophobe? That is one of the points of LGBT rights, we should be able to love whomever we are attracted to. If you are not attracted to someone, you shouldn't have to fake it for the sake of others. I'm surprised you don't bring up the fact that some guy could claim that he is a woman just so he can dominate in a women's sport. Yes, these are the slippery slopes we have to navigate, but that doesn't mean we should disregard transgender rights why we figure out these other issues.
You can't claim that someone is a different gender than what their biology dictates if you clearly don't even see them that way, yourself. That's a direct contradiction. It means that as PC as your brain is trying to be, your penis still knows the truth. And thus you are pushing something on society that you, yourself, don't even believe. You can't open a pandora's box and expect other things not to come out that you don't want. Life doesn't work like that. Ultimately, "navigating down these slippery slopes" becomes nothing more than modifying society to suit a self-serving agenda while denying everyone else who does not fit into that agenda the same "rights." This is why people like me say that you seek special treatment and not equal treatment. Because you're only concerned with your own "equality." Everyone else can go to hell, apparently.
I am not sexually attracted to obese, elderly, blonde, or religious women. That has no bearing on how I think of them as individuals other than I don't want to have sex with them. And it certainly doesn't mean I think they should have fewer rights.
You do not see the obese person as thin. You do not see the elderly person as young. You do not see the blonde as a brunette (well, maybe if she dyed her hair). You do not see the religious woman as an atheist. There is no cognitive dissonance between what you recognize with your own senses and what you are told to accept. Conversely, the entire reason you are not attracted to the transexual is because you do not see them as the gender they claim to be. If you are going to say you are not attracted to them for a different reason, then you are admitting that you could, in fact, be attracted to a transgendered person in which case you've completely contradicted yourself.
Because race is an artifical thing we made up, age, everyone gets there, species, neer heard of anyone doing that, identity, can you explain?
Maybe I'm getting the terminology wrong here, but wouldn't she be considered a transsexual in addition to a transgendered person? I thought transgender alone just means someone who views him/herself as a different gender from the one he/she was born with, but doesn't necessarily have an operation or hormone treatments to change physiologically.
I must be an outlier then. My index fingers are slightly longer than my ring fingers. And yes, I am and was born a guy.... lol
you could be right these things do get me confused...men who dress like women but aren't gay, men who have sex changes but aren't gay and men who choose to dress like men be men but are gay, it's all so confusing at times...
Indeed... What confuses me are terms like asexual and pansexual. Asexual in biology refers to a species that can procreate without a mate, whereas in sociology, it's entirely different.
post op yes, I have a dear friend who is with someone else and he has no problem with it and I have only known her as a woman, but maybe my view point is different then others here, she is 60 and I am 66. Tolerance in all things.
tolerance absolutely but maybe more than that...tolerance suggests something is wrong that we should be tolerant of...maybe it should draw no more reaction than a shrug of the shoulders...why should anyone care, they hurt no one and bother no one with their choices...
I wish that was me, but unfortunately, it's not. I can, however, easily achieve a look similar to that.
Sexual id and sexual preferences aren't a black and white situation. Even though, a very small segment of society, there is a sliding scale to which folks fall in between the "normal" male/female slot.
