If you go hard right enough, you come back around on the left, and that's what the American right has done. Modern Republicans are indistinguishable from Soviet communists in many areas, especially when you consider that monopolistic corporations are a kind of government that the right hopes will control our lives.

We on the left, of course, are the intellectual heirs of Adam Smith, the founder of capitalism. Adam Smith recognized the necessity of regulating capitalism to keep it from imploding into cronyism and monopolies, and Smith recognized the necessity of progressive taxation.

 

When WILL AMERICANS get an education on what the "left" is?!!!!! That Soviet government control of businesses WAS NOT communism or socialism!! It was STATE CAPITALISM as Lenin warned! You CANNOT come "left" by going far right!! If Americans don't get a handle on this history, the corporatists and their government will OWN YOU. They are keeping Americans stupid, confused, and therefore disarmed politically. The vast majority of Americans' views and understandings of this history is bogus and either is, or springs from, the propaganda we've been fed for 80 years. We all need to start a nationwide conversation on this and get it straight before it's too late.
