This thread is very unsophisticated. It fails to realize that it's very much possible for some white people to be open to some racial/cultural groups, and not to others. Race is much more than skin color. It is also a matter of culture and ideology.

 

The only envy I ever had was tan envy..... being a redhead... I sunburned, and my brother tanned.

this is my thoughts exactly. ghetto lifestyle is something I wouldn't want my child dating into..... just because racebaiters want to think thug = the n-word, there are plenty of whites I would also be against my child dating.

Why is it, telling my daughter, that dating a thug is bad, is acceptable if the thug is white, but not if he's black?

I'm a black privately educated Zimbabwean who has always been a bit jungle... Jungle being the term we used at school to describe someone who dated across racial divides. I found that most parents were okay with that and that some weren't. Mine at face value were okay with it however Ive always suspected a hint of dismay at the prospect of mixed race grandchildren. At least through my own experiences Ive discovered there will always be people who object to inter-racial couples but in this day and age, it shouldn't mean much because cultures will interact and consequently blend and evolve. My wife and I get the occasional ''look'' but were over that and the in-laws seem to get along just fine despite the huge cultural gap between our families.

My question is... If a girl raised on hardcore Rhodie values can get hitched to a guy raised on revolutionary-nationalist principals ( Which would inherently make us enemies ) why is it so much of a major issue in the U.S. Is it perhaps that the social and economic stratum are racially oriented rather than being based on a system meritocracy thereby making it an unspoken taboo?

I just had to ask because there seems to be so much racial angst now days... Its this ''White cops killing Black kids'' nonsense going on and on which begs another question why applaud a constitution that provides equal rights in varying degrees according to race for something so perfect it seems pretty messed up to me.

I do not know the divorce rate is for inter racial couples. But for all marriages it is 40-50% with the divorce rate higher for each subsequent marriage.

I married a Thai and am still happily married 45 years later. My oldest daughter married a Laotian and she is still married. Now my son has been married 4 times and it is anyone's bet on how long his fourth marriage will last. My youngest daughter married a white guy and she is still married. I have a grand daughter who married a black guy, happy with 3 kids. One of my grandson's though has been married twice and the second seems to be working.

If you want to see a bunch of inter racial marriages, just walk into any PX or commissary on any military base.

 

Why is it such an issue in the U.S. It is on a political forum like this one. I have been military all my life and it is no big thing with those in the military and retired. You would probably be surprised at the amount of couple that have married inter rascally. In my neighborhood if that word applies to the country, my neighbor is a black guy, ex military married to a Korean gal, I am married to a Thai, across the road my Daughter is married to a Laotian, next to her is a black couple, next to me on the other side is a white couple and about a half mile down the road is a black guy married to a white woman. No problem here.

 

Why... Because I'm a Zimbabwean Black man married to a White woman? Believe it or not QLB but stranger things have happened mate!

Race isn't simply a matter of skin color. In America it also involves culture and ideology.

 

I'd probably disown my daughter. I'd lose all respect for her. I wouldn't care as much if my son banged a few non-whites, but if he was planning on marrying one, I'd disown him, too.
