So the event could be run without the strap. Thanks for confirming that.

I have seen rodeos up close and personal. In fact the last one I went to the bloke beside me asked what was the name of the rider and I answered “Potential Patient”

It could but it would be unfair. Its just there for consistency and has no physical effect to the animal what so ever.

That is thier choice. They know what they are getting into. They know the risks, and still accept them. Just like people know that if they join the military there is a chance they will die. It's called accepting responsibility for your actions and choices.

Why.........because it makes them orgasm in delight?

A 'working ranch horse' is not something being used for amusement. See the immediate difference? (If I thought about it long enough, I'd likely come up with other points...but...we are discussing the use of animals for entertainment...amusement, so I'll keep it there.)

No physical effect? So...why put it there?

True...their choice. The human's choice. What about the other half of the entertainment? Choice?

No, because its a method to show balance by the rider to earn points. Rolling across the shoulders of a horse while bucking shows how good your center of balance is and provides you the opportunity to stay forward on the horse by pulling yourself as far forward as you can get.
The father back you get the harder it is to stay on.

But you would jump in a horse drawn carriage and ride around the city for amusement while the horse is forced to walk on hot asphalt all day week after week
You have no problem watching horse racing for amusement

I see you ignoring the facts about what working stock has to do every day compared to prize bucking stock because one is for amusement.

But you can't come up with other points.

What mistreatment? Those dulled spurs that leave no marks and at most feels like a lite jab that you'd get from an 11 year old?

Prove to me that they are intelligent enough to make choices v just going by instinct. They're animals for a reason. Intelligent choices is not a hallmark.

I was wrong. I said you are not stupid. Apologies.

"Show balance." Against what...an angered beast?

Let's have a test...one without any artificial devices. Bloke gets on unbroken horse, and see how he goes.........bare handed.

On the other hand, let's not. Why bother?

That makes my point. They have no choice at all...unlike the rider.

What would happen if it was not there?

Does it add to the beast's enjoyment of the occasion, or make it do stuff it would not otherwise do?

    75TH REDDING RODEO

Is next May. No one here would condone cruelty or malicious injury or harm to the animals that come here.

Says the poster comparing American Rodeos to Gladiators and Mexican bull fights.

Well we have established you have no idea what it takes to sit bucking stock

And the horse would be done after the second ride. Forever.
Again meaning you have no clue about the difference in bred bucking stock and some every day horse.

The horses in the event wouldn't be as consistent with each other

Just makes them kick a little higher

So? They're animals. Do you give a choice to your dog or cat to live with you? The type of food it gets? Whether or not it wears a collar with a name you let it choose for its self dangling off that collar?

Your "point" doesn't apply to animals. And never will.

So does California, making these new proposals outrageous.

No it’s not. The urban state voted to tell rural California what it would have to put up with as mountain lion rules led to an explosion in the number of them here. Whenever a human is injured or killed by one of those beasts it makes big news around here. They have been sighted on trails around here and killed goats and sheep on outlying ranches.

If not for the rodeo most of the bulls would never have been bred at all and excess existing ones would be part of our food chain.
