How is this allowed at a publicly funded School?

He doesn't because he needs to be outraged by this.

Both can mean the same damn thing. And event only for black grads can be said blacks only graduation event as well as black graduates only event. You need to be more specific in detailing further the differences with all 3 statements.

For example when I type in "black only grad event" several news reports pop up which word it EXACTLY AS THAT.

    https://www.bizpacreview.com/2023/05/22/uc-berkeley-hosts-black-only-graduation-ceremony-defying-civil-rights-laws-illegal-unconstitutional-1361165/

    Even this;

    https://thepostmillennial.com/uc-be...d-graduation-ceremony-for-black-students-only
Could read to suggest that ONLY BLACK STUDENTS are allowed at this event.

But in true dipshit progressive argument...what we have here is trying to bend the argument into something you might be able to defend versus one you can't defend.

It is ILLEGAL to ban anyone from any event based on race. That's illegal. No event can do that. But you can absolutely only celebrate a group of people based on race. Which is what the complaint is.

I don't care about going to stupid events that segregate their grads based on race. I will not partake in supporting shitty events like this one. And nobody in this thread is arguing that White people couldn't attend this event. But then that's exactly why you keep arguing that angle though...isn't it? Because actually trying to defend that this event is celebrating all students and not just Black students is a dead end for you. Because that just isn't true.

We have seen a sharp spike in hate crimes...we see more segregated events. Ya...dipshit progressive ideas like "hey let's segregate our grad students based on race!" is never a good idea.

So you think the spike in hate crimes is due to this graduation ceremony? Hahahahahahaha

You still elude @ToughTalk's point. It's a graduation ceremony that celebrates black students only.

Of course they do. They know damn well that's not a take they can argue against. It's hilarious.

    Absolutely.
Blacks can not be successful. If they are, the better not celebrate it.

I don't think it helps. I think every single time you segregate people based on race you cause social divide.

Scratching my head as to why some are being so stubborn about this.
The event celebrates no others but Black students. Therein lies the problem because this group chose to segregate others races from being celebrated too.

Or how about this? We all celebrate the grads TOGETHER? On the same stage? Crazy idea...I know! But for some strange reason, we gotta coddle black people.

The by default, No other student other than blacks, can attend the ceremony. In other words all non blacks are EXCLUDED.

    Are all NON BLACKS Excluded?

COOL! If we are going towards segregation then can we also segregate tax dollars by race?

You are rewording what I said to something I didn't say and then trying to claim that's the argument. Don't do that. It only makes your argument look stupid.

Except it's not a segregated event, in non blacks are allowed to take the studies and graduate or non blacks are allowed to attend the ceremony.

To be segregated, would need to have a policy to exclude ALL non blacks. No one is giving any policy excluding non blacks.

The event was in 2021, as can be seen in OP link date, and it was held on-line virtually. While posters here have tried every angle to portray it as some kind of racist event, the university letter clearly states it was open to everyone, and it said nothing about celebrating black students only.

No white grads are to be celebrated at this event, regardless of what they graduated from. This event is not for white grads.

    Degrade is subjective.
You may see it as degradation. But I haven't seen any Berkley students or faculty think it's degrading.

You are allowed to have that opinion, but no one has to agree with it. Some obviously do and that's ok.
But in reality, it's a nothingburger.

"The by default, No other student other than blacks, can attend the ceremony."

Nobody said that. White students can attend, but they won't be celebrated. The ceremony is only for black students. Only black students will be up on stage, getting applause and allowed to speak.

Don't try to rewrite or suggest something I am not saying.

If we are seeing a spike or rise in hate crimes based on race, that is a degradation of society. If we see a rise in hate between racial groups...that is degradation. For a person who probably wants all the diversity, you sure as **** seem to be stubborn as to how to help everyone get along.

News flash, segregated events? That ain't it.

No, it does not. Unless only blacks can take the course and graduate.

According to the page describing the event on the school's own website...he's correct. This ceremony will actually only celebrate BLACK STUDENTS. I've posted their detailing of the event several times. You are just wrong.

    White grads were not celebrated.

(maybe if we repeat it twice and what that implies, some will finally get it) ;)
