And it was LBJ who marshalled the CR and Voting acts through Congress with both parties voting for it.

What LBJ has do to with this Lee statue is immaterial.

Ddyad: from my voice to your ear ~ we are not going back to the bad parts of the fifties. Just not going to happen.

LBJ made sure "the 50s" would be projected right into the 21st century.
The DP, and LBJ especially, have always represented an existential threat to black Americans, and the black American community and culture.

“New research released by the Urban Institute on Thursday comparing the social and economic status of African American families in 1965 to their condition today paints a troubling picture about their current state — and, by extension, the long-term economic survival of the collective black community.”

    Fallacy of false conclusion. ^^^

Ddyad, we are not going back to the Fifties.

Blacks are not going anywhere, and when you and I die, there will be even more of them.

Black America will have to survive in spite of the sustained efforts of the DP to destroy them.

“Nearly 50 years after the release of the U.S. Department of Labor report “The Negro Family: The Case for National Action,” which was highly controversial and widely criticized at the time, the new Urban Institute study found that the alarming statistics in the report back then “have only grown worse, not only for blacks, but for whites and Hispanics as well.”

LBJ was a real joker too.

“But that wouldn’t be true. Johnson was a man of his time, and bore those flaws as surely as he sought to lead the country past them. For two decades in Congress he was a reliable member of the Southern bloc, helping to stonewall civil rights legislation. As Caro recalls, Johnson spent the late 1940s railing against the “hordes of barbaric yellow dwarves” in East Asia. Buying into the stereotype that blacks were afraid of snakes (who isn’t afraid of snakes?) he’d drive to gas stations with one in his trunk and try to trick black attendants into opening it. Once, Caro writes, the stunt nearly ended with him being beaten with a tire iron.”

Democrats have never denied their past to my knowledge. They're very much aware of the social conservative racists that were once a part of the Democratic Party.

Those in denial seem to be Republicans that deny more recent history when the Neo-Cons, religious conservatives, and racists left the Democratic Party basically in the 1980's and became Republicans and have since turned the Republican Party into a far worse nightmare than the Democratic Party ever was.

I don't see what modern democrats have to be ashamed of because FDR recognized a great American and Confederate general like Robert E Lee

He obviously had a better education in history than modern libs do

I really don't understand how any American patriot can accept a statue honoring a traitor like Robert E Lee that participated in an armed insurrection against the Constitutional government of the United States. Had it not been for the 64 presidential pardons by Lincoln for those that participated in the Confederacy Robert E Lee would have been prosecuted for treason, convicted, and executed.

We consider Benedict Arnold to be a traitor because he gave the British the American's plans during the American Revolution. Less than 100 years later Robert E Lee was responsible for the deaths of over 23,000 American soldiers (that we honor every Memorial Day) in just the three days during the of Gettysburg alone. Compared to Robert E Lee our most famous traitor, Benedict Arnold, committed a minor infraction while Lee was a mass murderer.

Why are there those Americans that honor traitors? As a US Army combat veteran the monuments to the Confederacy and the Confederate battle flag are highly insulting and disparaging to my time in the service.

    Lee was not a traitor

The Confederacy wanted out of the Union but never tried to overthrow the United States government or remove Lincoln from office

Yes, Democrats are hypocrites - FDR (a favorite Democrat icon) also put Japanese Americans into camps. But if Trump puts MUSLIMS into camps (our enemy in THIS World War) Trump, unlike FDR, would be crucified for doing that exact same thing. Democrats reek of hypocrisy (and often marijuana.)

Lee approved of slavery....like Lee, Jesus approved of slavery in the Bible.....so if we condemn Lee and Confederate statues then we'll also need to condemn Jesus, of course. I condemn Lee and Jesus.

Its obvious why the right wing loves these statues to Confederates, its because they ARE Confederates, "Neo-Confederates" to be precise. They are extremely racist, live predominately in the South, suck up to the corporate oligarchy, they love the police (which was formed out of old slave patrols), they have more black people in prison slavery than they had slaves in 1860, I can go on and on about how the Republican Party is the Party of the Confederacy in modern times. They celebrate Robert E Lee day on the same day as Martin Luther King day...They are neo-confederates without ANY doubt whatsoever, lets stop pretending they are anything but outright fascists.
