    Speaking of the GOP, McConnell told reporters outside his Kentucky home on Wednesday that "100% of our focus is on stopping this new administration," NBC News reported.

    Democratic members of Congress seized on the remarks as evidence that bipartisanship was not possible and stressed the necessity of ending the filibuster, a rule that requires a 60-vote super-majority to pass legislation in the 100-person Senate.

    Well, that really should make it easy for Manchin and Sinema to revise their stances on this obsolete quaint custom, shouldn't it?

    And the best part is that it's the R's that ended any possible bipartisanship, which was never going to happen in the first place. Joe was certainly shooting in the dark there...

    Mitch McConnell.... America might actually thank you someday for being the intractable asshat you've always been....

    Now Schumer needs to get something (S1/HR1?) on the floor and end this NOW! Right?

    Think of all the great things they can get done once this hurdle is cleared...

    I hope Democrats do remove the filibuster. What could go wrong? They will be in power forever. It's like when they changed the rules on Supreme Court approval.

    It seems the senate republicans have figured out a way to please their (or Trump's) base by making these kind of pre-emptive statements, and then once the Bill has passed and it is benefiting people, they claim credit for the Bill they opposed.

    McConnells statement that he is 100% committed to stopping the Biden administration, is like him saying to hell with the country I am dedicated to destroying the Biden agenda???

    Correct, Harry Reid nuked the filibuster on lower court nominees after he was warned not to do so, and thanks to him and Ruth Bader Ginsburg there are now 6 conservative judges sitting on the Supreme Court.

    How'd that work out?

    Mitch never allowed anything to get to that point.

    After Harry nuked it for the lower courts...

    And then a Republican president will rectify that mistake if needed. Before all the court packing is over the SCOTUS will be the size of the Senate. :roll:

    That's not what a Court is for. The Conservative court, by and large has performed as expected. A conservative court is less likely to get involved in political matters than a liberal court, that is a victory for a country that does not need to be ruled by fiat, but ruled by the general populace.

    In fact, anyone with a basic understanding of law knew that was never going to happen and the fear mongering over it made me rather chuckle at the time.

    You and I know that yet the Repubs put their money on the hedge and lost. The Repubs made damn sure through hook and crook to stack the Supreme Court and they made themselves out to be the vindictive hypocrites we all know them to be..
