It's not like he's Voldemort. Saying his name doesn't summon him or anything.

Do try and keep in mind that he was not found innocent, the Senate found it was insufficient grounds to impeach or too late to impeach. He was never found "innocent" of the charges.

Just trying to help you forget his name for when he declares bankruptcy and uses his PAC fund which is immune to that bankruptcy to live on yachts with pretty girls and plenty of golf all the while you are paying for his security as well.
By the way, he'll be laughing all the time at the fools who gave him their money.

LINK: U.S. Senate: Cloture Motions - 116th Congress

The 327 cloture votes that were done included nominees AND for legislation.

I know what a cloture vote is. I learned what it was LONG before Democrats used it against Republicans back when Obama was still President. You know...when Dems first started calling Republicans "The Party of No"? Because they kept trying to filibuster everything?

And you have no evidence of your "0 hours" claim.

I do find it ironic though that you are saying that a cloture vote should be used rarely, as if the filibuster is perfectly fine to use and should be used....and yet you are wanting the Dems to get rid of the filibuster. Talk about a double and triple standard.

Mistype, it should have been 30 hours. Sorry I didn't check it before.

    You posted
Apparently you misunderstand what a cloture vote is and who does it. Despite what you wrote it was used heavily against Obama, for example the Republican led Senate used it against Obama 187 times. A good link

    No problem.

    Without reading your link:

A cloture is what the Senate President calls for in order to end a filibuster being attempted by the Minority Party. There is then a vote where the motion to cloture is invoked or not invoked. In order for it to be invoked there must be at least 60 votes in favor of cloture. If it doesn't get that then it fails and the filibuster can continue.

So, in other words every time a cloture is put up for a vote its because a filibuster is in the process of happening. There is no official proclamation, announcement, or vote of/for a filibuster happening. So, the only way to tell how many times a filibuster was happening is for us to look at the amount of times the Senate President put up a call for a cloture vote.

My argument is that Democrats are being hypocritical, and to a point even lying, about filibusters. Hypocritical in that they used filibusters more times during Trumps Presidency than Republicans did during Obama's Presidency. And now that they have the power they want to get rid of it altogether because Republicans are "The Party of No!". The same thing that they claimed when Obama was President. Yet...Dems used it more when Trump was President. Which brings me to the lying part. They could probably get away with calling the Republican Party the "Party of No!" when Obama was President. To now claim that they want to get rid of it because they are still the "Party of No!" is a lie. It is a lie because Democrats used the filibuster more times than Republicans ever did with Obama. By twice the amount in the same time frame. In order for the Republicans to be considered the "Party of No!" again then they would have to filibuster Dems more than Dems did Trump. And at this early in the "game" that is simply not possible.

The ONLY reason that Dems want to get rid of the filibuster is so that they can pass whatever legislation that they possibly can. Ignoring the fact that doing so opens up the door for Republicans to do the same thing when they come into power. Probably because they think Republicans will never again hold power. But they are wrong. And getting rid of the filibuster will be a disaster of epic proportions. Even if they reinstate it just before midterms the precedent will have been set and Republicans will just get rid of it again as soon as they get into power, just like the Dems did. And then strip everything that Dems put in place and put their own things in. It will be on a continuous loop down the drain.

He's a billionaire that bangs supermodels and porn stars. He also defied everyone's expectations and won the Presidency. If you knew someone that had done even one of those three things, they'd be considered wildly successful by many people.

So simply return the Senate to a 60 vote to pass, get rid of McConnell who used that as a weapon and not a tool, and the problem is solved. Toss in removal of the no need to be present filibuster and we're good to go. Also, never allow the senate to be considered in session with less than 60 voting present unless during disease outbreaks. That bull hockey of preventing even temporary appointees to the courts et al needs to be stopped.

The Constitution clearly states all instances wherein a super majority (more than a simple majority) is required to pass legislation. Adopting a Senate "rule" that allows a minority to block legislation is, IMO, clearly unconstitutional. More appropriate, IMO, would be a Senate rule ensuring the right of every Senator to speak for a specified time limit prior to bringing cloture by a simple majority.

No such thing as found innocent. You are found guilty or you are acquitted.

When you add in the fake claims and falsified evidence by Democrats, it was an easy task to be found not guilty.

Why are you still hollering about McConnell? As if he is the one and only one to blame for all the obstructionism? Do Dems not hold any responsibility?

The first two is entirely and solely up to the senate. The third requires a constitutional amendment.

Minor clarifications; The senate majority can and does filibuster. The most infamous probably the massive filibustering by many Democrat senators against LBJ's civil rights bill. No cloture votes taken.

I think cloture votes were called 5 times as often with Trump than with the previous four administrations combined, ........ but I could be wrong.

Compared to McConnell? Not even the same neighborhood. Take out the most horrific and the lesser just might reconsider their positions.
