That kind of Muslim crazy talk isn't going to help tourism. But, they did blow up some Buddha statues in Afghanistan, so who knows? It really comes down to which Muslim fundamentalists end up running Egypt and murdering everyone else.

What kind of reception did his remarks get? There are crazies in every society: it's when too many people (usually armed) start listening to them that they become a threat.

I can't believe they have made it this long to be honest. I thought something like this would have happened a long time ago.

It's a real tragedy for history for those monuments to be destroyed like that, but we know that this isn't an idle threat; the Islamists did that in Afghanistan and in Timbuktu.

However, if the Islamists end up writing history, I suppose this will be considered a great moment.

The kind of reception where nobody gives him the time of day , I only found out about it through this forum , that's how desperate the people here are they pay attention to nut jobs in countries halfway around the world .While the people in said countries don't even give these idiots a second thought, because unlike some people they have better things to do with their time

Why, the Pyramids, of course. And the Sphinx. And been to Sharm el-Sheikh half a dozen times. Never again, though - you guys no longer don't need me, or my money.

By talking about something that has nothing to do with the OP, I'm going to assume you don't actually have an argument.

The OP requires no argument whatsoever. What would you like to argue about? That the Pyramids are in danger? Let's :)

The OP reminds me of some other mindless thugs that went through Iraq the cradle of civilization damaging their ancient historical sites. Now who was that? Oh that's right it was the American military.

Troops from the US-led force in Iraq have caused widespread damage and severe contamination to the remains of the ancient city of Babylon, according to a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing report released today by the British Museum.

John Curtis, keeper of the museum's Ancient Near East department and an authority on Iraq's many archaeological sites, found "substantial damage" on an investigative visit to Babylon last month.

The ancient city has been used by US and Polish forces as a military depot for the past two years, despite objections from archaeologists.

"This is tantamount to establishing a military camp around the Great Pyramid in Egypt or around Stonehenge in Britain," says the report, which has been seen by the Guardian.

Among the damage found by Mr Curtis, who was invited to Babylon by Iraqi antiquities experts, were cracks and gaps where somebody had tried to gouge out the decorated bricks forming the famous dragons of the Ishtar Gate.

He saw a 2,600-year-old brick pavement crushed by military vehicles, archaeological fragments scattered across the site, and trenches driven into ancient deposits.

Vast amounts of sand and earth, visibly mixed with archaeological fragments, were gouged from the site to fill thousands of sandbags and metal mesh baskets. When this practice was stopped, large quantities of sand and earth were brought in from elsewhere, contaminating the site for future generations of archaeologists.

WTF did you expect, an American archeologists running in front of sappers and tanks, pointing the way around priceless 2,600 year old (*)(*)(*)(*)ing bricks?

I expect them not to make a military camp on the site of Ancient Babylon of course, just like any sane person would.
