Michael Brown was a 6'4" 290+ pound adult gangster who robbed a liquor store in Ferguson and during his getaway he bashed a police officer in the head and attempted to steal his sidearm.

Tamir Rice was an innocent little 12 year old kid who was playing in a playground in Cleveland and was murdered by a pig.

These incidents are not comparable or even remotely related.

Yes, the cop does say that. Brandishing a firearm is the definition.

Go hold a pellet gun in front of a cop and see what happens to you.

Don't call the police when someone rapes your daughter. They're just pigs. You'd only be disturbing them at the donut shop. Oh, and they might catch the rapist, which would really pss you off.

    That's a lie.

Can you quote the cop saying that?

    THINK!

I've done that dozens and dozens of times. Both of my parents were cops. They bought me pellet guns when I was a kid. And my wife is also a police officer.

Any time you see a female police officer, thank my mother.

Your wife is a police officer and agrees with what you're saying here?
Now you're just making stuff up.

I don't know. I haven't asked her. Sometimes we don't agree with each other.

C'mon...and kids that dress as Dracula on Halloween are vampires in the making. While it was stupid for the toy not to be clearly marked, the 12 year old was just a kid being a kid. There's something really wrong with police training and mentality if this is the type of thing that can happen and be brushed off so nonchalantly as just one of those things. There was not even another person near the kid that the trigger happy cop could feel was being threatened. Is it just in NY where I live that cops tell people to pull over via a microphone and not by yelling out of the vehicle window? That video is mortifying! Poor kid.

It's a shame but the kid thought bit would be funny to remove the orange safety cap so people would think it's a real gun and scare them.

That is an extremely presumptuous assumption.

What evidence have you found to point to the conclusion that it was manufactured with an orange tip or that the kid removed it?

A "toy gun" that looks real.

    What is your point?

Dude. You've done it zero times. I didn't ask if you if you pulled a pellet gun on the people who know you have a pellet gun.

Go up to a RANDOM cop on a beat, and pull a pellet gun on them and see what happens (NOTE: DO NOT ACTUALLY DO THIS. I am NOT actually asking you to do this, I am merely pointing out that your example includes mommy and daddy who got you a pellet gun, or that know you aren't holding a real gun). I too come from a family of LEOs and they know I have pellet guns. Not to mention, my parents wouldn't shoot me anyway.

Point is, your examples are usless to this conversation, however, I commend your parents/wife on their service to this nation.

benefit of the doubt causes your death.... if you portraying a toy as a real gun... it's to be treated like a real gun when reacting to it.

your white guilt aside... a good WHITE parent, a good BLACK parent, will teach their kids common sense when playing with toy guns. We used this incident as a teachable moment for my 8 y.o. that has an uncomfortably real looking air soft gun. He's careless with it in how me plays (under adult supervision) and we teach him the correct ways and the reasons for it. Unfortunately, the 12 yo in your story, did not have paerntes who took the same amount of time. They gave him a real looking gun, and let me run around the neighborhood with it. That is a recipe for tragedy.

you got lucky.... that doesn't mean noone else's parents were so lacxadasical with gun safety education....

Okay folks. Here's the new rules.

    1. Don't buy your kid a realistic toy gun. Duuuhhhhhh!!!!! Don't even buy your kid a toy-looking toy gun.

    2. Don't let your kid outside from dusk on. Teach your kid to come home and be IN THE FRIKKEN HOUSE by sundown. No playing outside. PERIOD. (Too risky. It wasn't too risky for me in the late 50s. It's too risky now.)

    3. Teach your child to RESPECT a police officer. A lot of that has to do with the simple rule of SHUTTING THE FCK UP around an officer and only speak when he asks you questions. He's not a playmate, any more than the horses who used to pull a stagecoach are pets. He's not your friend. Your friend will run away if someone hurts you. The police officer will stop the person hurting you.

    4. Remember, the police officer is ARMED and wearing a BULLETPROOF vest. These are not fashion statements. These mean he EXPECTS TO BE SHOT. He has been trained to return fire. If he has been on the force for any length of time, he probably has been shot or shot at. And if someone tries to hurt you, the officer will do something very ugly to stop that person. Don't complain about the ugly. You are alive.

    5. If your kid is old enough to play with a toy gun (say, 12) he is the age of gang members age 12 who have committed murder. When a 12 year old gang member pulls a gun, he intends to shoot and kill. Police officers know this. If you want to see your kid grow up into an adult, DON'T BE EFFING STUPID. Don't let him dress like or be armed like a 12 year old gang member.

Your parents were LEO's and you also married one - yet you call them 'pigs'? Wow.......

Why should anyone thank your mother when they see a female cop? Was your mom the very first woman police officer?

"Poor kid" is right. The poor kid didn't have a parent who had enuf brains to realize letting her 12 yr old go to the park w/a realistic looking gun.... in this day and age, could very easily be fatal for him.

And you can't compare a kid dressed as a vampire on Halloween to any kid who's given guns like this for entertainment......

The point is a twelve year old is dead because he was playing with a toy gun. Oh, I forgot...those on the right only let their kids kill themselves or siblings by playing with real guns. Toy guns are not gun enough.

Why did you ignore the rest of my post? Do cops where you live not have speakers when they ask someone to pull over?

Not to mention, how many decades ago was little Hairball running around w/his pellet gun, 'shooting' people who knew it was a pellet gun? It was a different society then.......

Nobody was killed for possessing a firearm. The kid was shot for brandishing a firearm. Can't do that. And kids can't possess firearms.

    Second amendment doesn't apply here

nobody said that our military engagement rules were SMART, dude. But yes, 12 years old is young enough (and small enough) that the chickensquat cops SHOULD have had some better tactics, for real. They can always just QUIT being a cop if they don't like it, and go get a REAL job.
