Thank you for asking. I’ll dig up some links for you, but I can tell you in the abstract that since 1998, there have been ~1,600 school bus fatalities. During that same period, there have been 76 mass school shooting fatalities. So a student in America is over twenty times more likely to die in a school bus than at the hands of a deranged shooter.

I don't know how folks would respond to such legislation honestly. Some may just be blowing smoke when they say "from my cold dead hands" and others may be sincere. Not sure how many law abiding gun owners would be willing to break the law by keeping their guns if such a ban were passed. I do feel that many would believe such a ban unconstitutional and feel that they are personally morally right by refusing to obey such a law and not consider themselves "criminals" even though thats what they would be legally defined as at that point.

I will say that many folks underestimate the near sacred holding of the 2nd Amendment to many gun owners. Many of those who do not own firearms are disconnected from the mentality of those who do and don't really understand just how important those firearms may be to those who hold the 2nd Amendment so dear. You may be surprised at how many would not comply with such a law. I have no idea how many that would be, but I believe it's many more than you may think.

As for me personally, not really sure, haven't thought about it much actually because I highly doubt it would ever happen for the aforementioned logistical reasons. It simply cannot be enforced and I highly doubt the government would even try to pass such a pointless law. But it's the government after all, they are unpredictable to say the least.

But I do respect the current laws in place. When I moved to NY for work I respected their AR style firearm ban and left my AK-47s in my home state where they are legal to own. I simply brought my pump shotgun there for home protection and left the rest of my rifles and pistols in my home state. I did that out of the respect for their law up there even though I didn't personally agree with it. But that's not my home state, I lived there temporarily so I felt I had no business deliberately disrespecting those folks local laws when I was basically a guest in their state for a few years. I wouldn't appreciate New Yorkers coming to live in Louisiana and petitioning to the local government to ban guns so I extended the same courtesy to them by not moving to their state and disrespecting their gun ban by bringing my guns up there even though I could very easily have gotten away with it.

Now would I extend that same respect if NY laws became national? Honestly don't know. What I would probably do is register one of my rifles and sort of test the waters to see exactly what the government is going to do with that registration in the coming years or after the next tragedy. There is no "if" but "when". And WHEN the next tragedy strikes with an AR style weapon I'd like to see how the government responds to that with their new gun registration database. Would they use it to hold the registration owner responsible for the crime or use it to say "enough is enough" and confiscate all weapons of that type?

Basically what I'd do is "give them one" and see what they did with that information. What I need is to be shown that I can trust the government with that information. I have no issues with gun registration, I'm no criminal, and I have no issue with the government knowing exactly what I have in my possession. My car is registered and I don't worry that the government is going to come take my truck away one day for some reason because they know I have it. I don't have the same feeling in regards to firearms. I believe that hysteria is a powerful tool and that if enough irrational people scream loud enough then their voices may be heard even if their sentiments are irrational. And that is what I worry about.

Bottom line is that until the government can assure me that they will NEVER, and I mean NEVER, under ANY circumstances tell me I can't own my AK's, then I will more than likely only let them know that I have 1. And what so many folks fail to realize is that what I just stated above was the POINT of unregistered firearms. In many states you literally CAN'T register your gun even if you wanted to because there is no way to register it and that was done on purpose as the state governments way to protect you as a gun owner in case the Federal Government ever tried to overstep their bounds and take your guns away.

Anti-gun folks hate that but the fact of the matter is that this arsenal of unregistered firearms in the US was a design choice, it was no accident nor unforeseen circumstance....

I would say you don't make public policy based on private tragedy.

Only in a very, very sick country. There are many decent Americans who could see off the gnmen in a very short time.
Well, it's not as if it's a free country, after all!
No - it's just the same: all you need is a total lack of honesty. It is why so many criminals went to the 'States, as you know.

The question I would be asking is WHY are these kids are doing this. What is causing these kids to think nothing of going into a school and killing? We've had guns in this country for over 200 years. These mass shootings have been a thing the last 30 years. Why is that? What changed?

Many countries have laws against owning guns, yet people own them anyway. Mexico has very harsh gun laws, yet the only people that don't have guns are the law-abiding people. The narcos aren't slowed one bit. If the U.S. were to ban guns tomorrow, it would be practically IMPOSSIBLE for every gun to be taken away. First, there are many guns that don't even have serial numbers due to their age (serial numbers weren't a requirement for guns in the U.S. until 1968). Second, there are many guns of which there are no records of (guns bought before 1968, as well as guns that have gone through several owners). Third, the sheer number of them--at least 300 million. Yes, the first 150 million or so will be easy to confiscate, but what do you want to do after that? Have the Gestapo and the Stasi go door to door to confiscate them? It is simply impossible to ban guns nationally, even assuming you could somehow get 38 states to ratify an amendment to invalidate the 2nd amendment.

So what part of Russia are you from?

IMHO, the breakdown of the family. The birth of school shooters began in the early 1980s, which meant they were born to the second generation of broken families. It has just gotten worse.

Interesting label for people who sought to escape totalitarian regimes.

Start by executing the gang who run the NRA. All this 'Constitutional' filth depends on them, as you know.

Pure myth. A few religious bullies went there, once upon a time, so we are told. 99%. however, went there to make money by any means that offered, especially to live off the backs of others, which is why you love the bang-bangs so much to help avoid any freedom.

The schools moved far left. Now you've got guys using the girl's showers and locker rooms. A group like GLSEN teaching kids all about anal fisting (I kid you not). Liberal teachers who talk the talk when it comes to bullying but look they other way and turn a deaf ear when it happens.
