Not really. I’ve been a manager. If masks are escalating g the situation, the best way to de-escalate the situation is what I said. If it’s something else, that’s a different matter. Really, the situation your employee started could ha e easily been resolved without law enforcement had you let the customer go. I honestly would not have left the office, I would’ve radioed to let the customer go.

I would not want you as a manager, even if you would pay me.
My employee did exactly what she was told to do. The customer threw a fit and refused to leave. No Mask No Service including the mandatory sign from CO Health are posted at the entrances. The persons ignored the signs, got rude and refused to leave. State law, that is trespassing.
The persons got cited for trespassing and will have to appear in court.
    My estimate $600/person, expensive lesson.
I gave my employee a $50 tip, she handled the situation well, stood her ground, despite threads and insults.

"An Executive Order is not a law." Maybe but...

Most of the information linked here is about Presidential Executive Orders. A little Googleing will show most if not all Governors have similar executive powers.

Why? Because I think with my head unlike your governor. In retail, the customer is your boss, period. Without them, there is no you. Actual trespassing would be a homeless guy entering your business after closing hours, that's an example of actual trespassing, not because of Polis' personal version of trespassing. It's also known as breaking and entering. The customer only threw a fit because your employee wouldn't leave them alone. So no, you did not do the right thing. Again, exercise common sense next time. End of discussion.

It doesn't mean I take any position. It was just a listing of facts.

I'm against mask mandates by the federal, state, or local governments.

If a private business wants to enforce a mask policy than that is their prerogative. No mask no service I either put on a mask or leave plain and simple.

That's great but if 30% of people refuse to wear masks or do so sloppily or intermittently...the virus spreads.

Tons of viruses spread. The common cold spreads, pneumonia spreads, influenza spreads, fall is called cold and flu season for a reason. And you don't see people trying to force masks on everyone. Or is this experience going to make people so paranoid, despite the viruses being around for decades? Besides, a case of COVID isn't bad news. Over two million Americans have recovered from it, and most likely the next person who gets it will as well.

The virus has high transmissibility, but very low lethality.

For the vast majority of those infected it is like a bad cold. Many do not even know they've been infected. Over this we want to shut down the economy?

    And for 20% it's hospitalization and even death...so yea...it's a serious concern.

Economies do not sustain that very well

Without a healthy economy, you would not have a job.

Your 20% number is way off.

Regarding the wearing of masks at your establishment, do you inspect the masks of those entering? Do you allow for those with COPD to be exempted?
