The only thing republicans have to run on is democrat ineptitude. Then the next cycle the roles will be reversed. American politics is one bad version of Harold Ramis‘a Groundhog Day.
Yes and no. Granted, given where the current official GOP is, it has no plan to return to office other than hoping the Democrats screw up so badly that even an adoring media can't cover it up. But apparently they can cover up a lot, so if President Alzheimer can have a 60% approval rating, I'm skeptical that he could do anything to sink Democrat chances. However the Groundhog Day cycle isn't forever. The Democrats maintained more or less complete control from the Great Depression until Reagan. That's more than a generation. I don't see any cycle replacing Democrat power in California. Sometimes cycles break.
There's a tension between conservatism and politics and policy making to begin with. The conservative is naturally leery of "programs" and "plans" -- that's Elizabeth Warren's department -- and he resists government intervention as a matter of instinct, philosophy, and orientation. "Vote for me and I'll cut programs" actually appeals to me, and maybe to you, but to the average voter today? The only hope for the Right is that democrats will continue to push CRT and wokeism and political correctness to the point that they start nauseating John Q. Public. There's also a chance for Republicans if inflation takes off and interest rates start rising in response.
Well inflation and interest rates and hoping that somehow the Democrats will go to far fall into Flynn from AZ was referring to; Democrat ineptitude. Maybe... but it would have to be a lot of ineptitude, otherwise as you seem to acknowledge, the future default seems to be the Democrat Party.
There’s a populist insurgency going on in the Republican Party. Trump is proof of that, even though I would describe trump as a fake populist. Trump was smart enough to read the tea leafs at least. There’s also a growing divide between the trump wing, and the Tim Ryan free trade at all cost block of the gop. Talking about slashing Medicare, and Social Security is a losing ticket for republicans.
IMO, RP pols need to start offering Big Green Checks to voters for things government programs are supposed to do. Get rid of the need before even thinking about eliminating a program.
If I could bypass the primaries I would pick Tim Scott and Nikki Haley. That is a winning combination that Democrats couldn't beat. Unfortunately, I believe it will be Trump and Desantis and we will have yet another election with someone getting 81 million votes to the other's 80 million votes where anyone could win. Scott and Haley would be a sure fire winner and leave Democrats in the dust.
Yeah. I purposely put it in that order because I believe Scott probably has more experience for the job. Maybe not. It wouldn't bother me either way it went as both of them being on the ticket in any order would be a sure fire win. Scott would pull black votes from Democrats and Haley would pull some women away from Democrats. Democrats would have a hard time even knowing how to campaign against a black man and a woman who isn't really white either. All of their usual talking points against the right would be unusable.
Well, you know what they'd do to Scott -- Uncle Tom, Race Traitor. Haley is a traitor to women, they'll say. Also she doesn't seem to have a killer instinct as does Tulsi Gabbert. But Tulsi's still a Democrat as far as I know. Gotta go, someone's at the door. OMG, it's Tulsi AND Nikki!!! This may take a while.
I somewhat agree. The country is getting poor. With labor coming out the kazoo there is no incentive for employers to give raises. In the 1990's we ran out of labor and started hiring ex cons and full on adults who had never held a job.* EVER. We payed $2.50 over minimum wage of ~ $5 as I recall. God the stories I could tell. We actually hired a reformed, aged out OG "shot caller" to handle the ex cons. (I did not want to wind up in a dumpster with a shiv in my neck trying to fire some psycho) Anyhow, then the dam broke and we got an influx of Mexican labor so the people we hired were exchanged through attrition within a couple of quarters**. The only raises the entry level guys got was when the minimum wage went up, so it was a net cut to our labor bill. We had people coming in looking for work every day. tl;dr: Without a labor shortage there is little incentive to give raises. As long as we keep pumping in cheap immigrant labor, wages will barely keep up with inflation. We have broken economics and pretend everything is OK. When everyone is at minimum wage the government become the giver, not me. * we used younger workers out in the field (glass business), because I didn't want them listening to war stories from the ex con's, not to mention creating a beef with one and having a bad outcome. I don't think Trump will run, so it will possibly be DeSantis or a black candidate if he falls, and maybe Haley or some other woman.
markle has accepted a title of nobility from a foreign (the only kind i hope) monarch. i think that disqualifies her constitutionally. other than that she is an actor, so republicans would go for her. what would she call what's his face? "first prince?"
i wouldn't actually be fat shaming him if i suggested that they would photoshop his airbrushed face upon a young fit body.
She was raised with both Christian and Hindu teachings. She follows both. And she doesn't have to be nominated by Repubs for me. I wasn't talking about anyone but myself in that post. I don't go by party. Also, don't care what faith she follows as long as she doesn't try to force her faith onto me by using her position to push it.
If Congress gives its approval than its ok: Article 1: Section 9: Paragraph 8 "No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State."
