Are Tattoos the Mark of being Smart or being Dumb?

Or just a painless method.

they arent a mark of either. They are the mark of wanting to express your individuality outwardly with ink. I don't care if people have tattoos, me and most of my friends have them. I don't really understand why anyone would care.

I have more than one tattoo, and none of them are visible when im clothed. so your theory just went down the (*)(*)(*)(*)ter.

 

American traditionalists are always going to have something to say about people with tattoos. Whether its that they are stupid, or desperate attention seekers, or whatever.

The truth, you would probably never see most people tattoos, because they are covered by clothing (how are they seeking attention?), and most people that have lots of tattoos aren't trying to impress people, or seek attention. They get them, because they like the way they look. Mind boggling to people that don't like them, I'm sure, but not everybody is.y u.

The guy in the picture is clearly an extreme.example, and is definetely the exception to the rule. More regular people have tattoos then you probably realize

 

I love the hate in this thread, is is amazing the hateful feelings arise from the sight of a message on another person's body.

 

Your case is even worse since you aren't proud enough to sport those tats out in the open. Or perhaps you're just covering up some deep emotional problem you have. Whatever the reason, its a sick one for sure.

 

Or perhaps your conspiracy theories are just as ridiculous here as there are in the political forums?

 

Or maybe they just happen to be in areas that are typically covered...

One of my tattoos is was done to remember a dead friend. I got it in the same place he had it. I'm (*)(*)(*)(*) proud of that tattoo. My other tattoo was paid for by my parents on my 18th birthday, with the guideline i get it somewhere hidden so I can get a job, because there are people like you who attach negative stigma to benign personal choices.

I've been saving to get my sleeves done, but not being a priority, its taking a while. I plan on having lots of tatttos, simply because I like them. Shocker right?

 

here's my theory why you dont have any tattoos. You're a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) whos too scared of a little pain.

I really dont understand the hate towards tattoos in this thread. I can certainly understand that some people just dont like them, but to claim people that do have some sort of emotional problem? Are you really that close minded that it seems impossible to youthat someone maybe just likes something you dont? You have to create all of these ridiculous theories about emotional problems, attention seeking, and say that I have to be sick?

Tattoos have been part of humanity for thousands of years. They arent going anywhere, get over it.

 

Its their method of marginalizing tattoos to make themselves, their way of life and outlook on it, seem superior in their minds. My brother fits into that category very well....

That is the only thing I can think of.

 

This negativity against tattoos stems from what I refer to as "social communism", or the idea that there is a social norm for which we should all strive to attain, and any deviation from it which points out an individual as unique and separate from the group is some terrible thing which ought to be brought under control.

 

Let's review.

Seems many tattoos are permanent reminders of an event and/or someone
who was/is important; or maybe something signifying time while in the military.

Tattoos associated with kids, parents...friends...loved ones etc.

I lost both parents, a brother, I've been in the military...I've been to over
40 countries in the process. I survived a serious bout with cancer. I've seen death, I've carried the caskets of the fallen
back to their homeland.

Not once...not once, did I ever feel compelled to put ink on skin to remind
me of any of that or as a permanent mark equivalent to a monument on skin.

I believe this is more cultural than anything else, certainly not a necessity.

Yes, folks like them etc...a myriad of reasons for getting them...but they aren't a
need, they are a desire. No one needs a tattoo to survive a grieving process
or to signify they are some kind of "Ramboesque" warrior. That element of it
is pure vanity. I had an Uncle who was navigator/bombardier on an A-26.

He was awarded a Silver Star for completing a mission and dropping the bomb
load on target despite a serious shrapnel wound.

No tattoos....

It's personal choice based on desire, which is fine; but please don't (*)(*)(*)(*) the shock troops
thinking your experiences are somehow so unique they had to be put in permanent ink
on your skin.

A person with a blank canvas is just as deep, just as experienced as any "tatted"
individual. There's nothing special about the tattoo process or that sets the tattooed
person apart from anyone else.

 

I dont think anyone here has claimed they needed a tattoo or that it made them special. I think everybody here who has one, said they got them because they like them. everything else has been in response to certain posters making ass brained theories about emotional problems, and attention seeking.

I did read once about people getting their blood type tattooed under one of their arms. Now, THAT seems to make some sort of sense. I take my blood sugar once per day & that is enough needles for me.

 

Some people also get tattoos for reconstructive reasons. A woman I used to work with got a fake nipple tattooed on her one fake breast, because the real one was lost to breast cancer.

The blood type thing isn't a bad idea actually.

 

I got a tattoo when i was in the army. My wife hates it. I regret getting it done now.

 

Which is fine. I like smoking cigars...many people hate cigars;
but I think there is kind of reverse discrimnation from the tattooed
set with the blank canvas set...

Labeled as "squares" or "boring"..."sits in a cubicle all day"...

Most people don't need to wear their life on their sleeve...literally...

Holocaust survivors wear the permanent mark of their Third Reich captors...
Now that I'm impressed with...there's ink that truly has meaning.

But some clown with "Blink 182" on his calf, thinking he's just so dam cool he's got
to express that coolness...

frankly I think it's immature.

 

Reconstructive makes sense. I've also heard of women who used tattoos on their legs to cover unsightly scars.
