After a You Tube ban due to "different views on masks and lockdowns" Sky news just became exponentially more popular, Peta Credlin says she doesn't recognise Australia anymore. I agree, what is happening today is un-Australian.

There are very dangerous people among us and they need to be separated from us as permanently as practical. On the other hand there are less dangerous people incarcerated that could be handled in different way. Examples would be political prisoners and those who commit minor crimes such as legal process crimes. The problem is that the big cities aren't making those distinctions. They seem to view criminal justice as binary - either lock them up not. Common sense says that some criminals need to be locked up, not all of them. We have handled this just fine in the past. Only recently has this binary view come into play.

On the part in bold, I agree. The issue is once the politicians are locked up, then what?

I'm serious. With the constant albeit useless lock-downs in Australia, govt officials have become very dangerous and shame on the people for allowing it

One lockdown, OK, a 2nd lockdown to "clean up", maybe ok, but constant lockdowns to where they are locked down more than they are free........time to stop the insanity

time for incompetent politicians to admit that they are clueless and time for the folks to realize that their health is their personal responsibility

Aussies need to step up and take personal responsibility

The Aussies know very well they are a free people. The military helicopters loud speakers have told them so, and they just know it's true.

As I have observed before - I am not an Australian, but I have lived in Australia as well as in the UK (and I have spent some time in the USA). The Australians have many freedoms that Americans do not enjoy (the right to carry a killing machine is not regarded as a freedom in any part of the civilised world).

For example - the right to medical attention irrespective of one's financial standing is most important, and the expectation of children to attend school without the danger of being shot is perhaps of equal importance.

Australia has many areas of social justice which the USA lacks, so I find it extraordinary that Americans should choose to lecture Australians upon these matters. I have spent time in your fair land, and have seen the fiscal and social inequity, the homelessness, the racial prejudice, and the violence.

None of our societies are perfect, but Americans are not in the position to lecture anyone upon social responsibility.

We do like to wax on about our rights. Responsibilities, not so much. Those are inconveniences, and as a mouthy segment of our population has proven over the last year and a half, some of us simply do not tolerate inconveniences, sacrifices, consideration of others, etc etc. Because the only real important thing to some of us is "me me me". It gets disguised in various themes, usually attempting to be patriotic or as a brave stand against one boogieman new world order or another, but at the root of it all is selfishness, lack of empathy, and lack of compassion. Why should MY life have to change? Why should I have to be affected? There are many of us who want the freedom, isolation, and lack of social responsibility that would come from living way out in the woods away from society altogether, while still living smack dab in the middle of it and enjoying all of it's benefits. They will lash out at who they consider to be the entitled, which are usually the young or the poor, while blind to their own sense of entitlement to live in a society without any social responsibility.

    That's modern day America.

Well said, but this is not peculiar to Americans - there are many such attitudes extant in my own, and other societies I have encountered.

Given your national history (and the national mythology common to nations which have emerged out of rebellion,) it is not unusual that the concept of what you understand to be freedoms should loom large in your society's ideology.

However, none of us enjoy absolute freedom (nor, as long as we live in organised societies - are we ever likely to). Our limited freedoms are coupled with responsibility, and our rights terminate at the end of another' nose. These are the price of living in a reasonably safe, and reasonably comfortable environment.

I am reading for a double degree at a sandstone university in Australia at the moment, and am surprised at the number of Aussies who are ant-vaccine in the middle of the worst health crisis this country has suffered. Those so opposed are not medical practitioners or scientists, but without exception appear to be supporters of the ruling conservative party in Australia, and appear to mirror the attitudes of their political counterparts in the USA. I have not considered this question heretofore - but is anti-science attitude a characteristic of even moderately well educated ultra-conservatives? What think you?

Wow 37 replies, sorry it's simply too many, so please if you quoted me in this thread consider this my reply.

I have several friends and family who had covid,

    • most barely sniffed, they had no symptoms...these were mainly young people,
    • some said it was like flu....these were over 40 and 50....
    • 1 were seriously ill - over 50 and
    • 1 needed oxygen...over 50.
    • 2 died over 60

I don't believe covid is a hoax I believe you can get seriously ill from it if you are over 50, but there are treatment options currently not being used and too many doctors and people who were vaccinated have come out with serious lifelong debilitating issues after vaccination.

In this latest video from Dr Ryan Cole, he says the myocardites will cause permanent scar tissue on the hart...so when you inject young people with these vaccines...you are causing permanent damage....that does not even include the fertility issues, brain damage and many other problems reported.

He straight out says the vaccine is poison, and if this is true...then the Australian government and Australian media is committing genocide by pushing this vaccine

DAY 107 OF A LIVING HELL. HER STORY CONTINUES. SHE IS BACK IN THE HOSPITAL - PFIZER KILL SHOT

Instead these treatments already tested and approved for other illnesses should be used to treat covid. Why are they burying this information?

In the meantime, in one city alone, there are currently hundreds of people in hospital with COVID, and around a quarter of them are in ICU. And that's with relatively small daily numbers - at least small relative to America. So what do you think is going to happen when that hospitalised figure goes up three or fourfold - which it will if this outbreak isn't squashed? We only have so many hospital beds, and something will have to give. What will give is all those OTHER illnesses and injuries which normally end up in hospitals.

This was ALWAYS the reason for our actions. It's the same reason every nation has worked hard to damp these outbreaks down. Healthcare systems collapse when there are too many people sick all at the same time. If you haven't understood that this is what it's always been about, then you haven't understood at all.

I think because America has been in quasi lockdown for a year and half, they don't understand the short/sharp iteration. They probably can't even imagine it, after this long of constant impact. They probably don't know we've spent nearly a year of 'back to normal' here and in New Zealand. Not the pathetic 'let's pretend there's no COVID' of the UK and Sweden, but actual no COVID.

So we don't end up with thousands of deaths a day, obviously.
