    False equivalency?

Be honest, to a whole bunch of MAGA social-conservatives there isn't a hairline's crack of difference between "Timmy Has Two Moms" and a book describing male circle jer**.

I think that's getting close to the actual point.

It's been removed from the library. Elementary school kids can still read the Bible at home, or church, etc.

So the reason the Bible was removed was for vengeance. Cute.

I doubt the religious care that this was their reason for removing the Bible from the school. Let them, supporters of the Bible being removed be petty. Who cares?

Btw, the Bible stays in the higher grades.
"The district appointed a committee to review that parent’s complaint, and determined that while the Bible can stay on high school shelves, it needed to be removed from younger grades."

It was removed because it contains sexually explicit passages that may harm children.

Yeah, I know the reasons the complainer gave for getting it removed. I'm not buying it.

I bet the BOOK OF MORMON is still available

One thing you learn living this close to Salt Lake City is, Utah was founded on hypocrisy ;)

    Polygamy anyone?

Do you think "Timmy Has Two Moms" (or whatever) was requested to be removed from whatever school library for any reason other that vengeance; probably by the socially-conservative right because they lost on the same sex marriage issue?

Same pettiness could be levied at those trying to remove a whole heap of other books.

So if Utah was founded based on principles found in the BOM, then it shouldn't be removed since it has historical context right?

    It's also under review.

In my opinion, this socially conservative review board has been nothing other than even-handed and fair.

And now a group of parents have come forward and are objecting to that one parent's complaints.

exactly, the law is the law, had they done otherwise it would have been not only hypocritical, but against the law

interesting, so these parents what this stuff in our children's schools

    https://www.sltrib.com/news/education/2023/06/01/bible-is-banned-these-utah/

"Incest, onanism, bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, fellatio, dildos, rape, and even infanticide,” the parent wrote in their request, listing topics they found concerning in the religious text. “You’ll no doubt find that the Bible, under Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227, has ‘no serious values for minors’ because it’s pornographic by our new definition.”"

If it's part of their state history, then it shouldn't be removed right?

This not hypocrisy if it isn't removed.

I can understand parents' point of views regarding the above subject matter. I don't think it's based on vengeance either. It has to do with their not wanting their youngsters exposed too young to Timmy's two moms.

Yup, many things have been :) I can remember when Coca Cola was taboo in Utah, until the Mormon church bought a ton of stock in it. After that you couldn't find anything else to drink :)

You have to be around them to understand them :)

Of course. People only get upset when a law starts to affect them.

Nope. You just have to think like yourself and understand a book is part of their cultural founding, so shouldn't be removed.
