It was more like 1984 when Ronald Reagan said "The bombing will begin in five minutes." but then again, it was a joke, and most knew it.

for DJT, it was Sen Cooker who said infamously that DJT was on a path to start WW3. In four years, DJT divided NATO, nullified to a great extent US involvement in the UN, stopped becoming an honest broker in the Israel-Palestine Talks and peace initiative, gave everything to the Taliban in the Afghan peace deal, and so forth. He even offered KIm Jung Un a ride on Air Force One, which if Kim Un Jung had accepted, DJT would be a prisoner now.

It’s not make believe. Putin attacked Ukraine during Obama, stopped while Trump was in, and started attacking again as soon as he left. So yeah, it stands to reason there would not be a war if Trump was in.

I addressed this and my response wasn’t long so you really shouldn’t have missed it. You merely reiterating it is irrelevant.

So? The concept of appeasement has nothing to do with specifically honoring or not honoring treaties and alliances.

There are countless, countless ways to appease aggressors. That is because there are countless countless ways they exist both individually and by groups and country.

According to you, if a bully pushes a kid at school for his lunch money then you are not appeasing him by letting him despite being older and bigger unless you have an agreement with the kid that got pushed that says you’ll step in if you see him bullied.

    Wrong. Very very wrong.

So? What does this have to do with anything?

Poster#1: WWIII could start based on 3k troops because that’s how I think it’ll start: by doing things that make Russia mad!

Me: why do you think that? WWs can happen through appeasement too. We know because the last one started that way.

^^ frame your arguments with this perspective in mind. You are getting lost in your “hyperfocus” on appeasement and seem to be parrying points that haven’t even been made. Maybe a strawman debater you be?

I’m not arguing that we are appeasing Russia. I didn’t type much—Staying on track shouldn’t be hard.

What? Appeasement can only be known in 20/20 hindsight? Well if I wasn’t already sure you don’t know what appeasement is I sure do now.

You clearly don’t even know anything about WWII or you would never have characterized it as a WW that started when we turned it into one based on the polish invasion. That is so laughably twisted not to mention factually wrong as well as unspecific as to who the hell you’re even talking about with “we”.

If you really want to continue your long winded reiteration of the other posters’ lack of understanding on matters of WW and appeasement by all means but frankly you both are in the same boat and now it’s my turn to reiterate: if you have even seen a single documentary on the subject I’d be surprised.

Appropriate? Let's send the 3rd string over to defend the fate of the world? It is called weakness for a reason and the world knows Biden is the epitome of just that.

Well... We currently have a decent "volunteer" force in Ukraine now.

Putin is the responsible party for “tensions” in Europe. Demonstrating our resolve to support Ukraine might actually make him look at his hand and realize he doesn’t have the cards to win this hand. Thus, yes, it could ramp DOWN tensions.

We have to get down on our knees in front of Putin.

    He is our friend.

It is with our submission that he will understand that destabilizing Europe and our allies is wrong.

Let him have Ukraine, let him build a solid strategic alliance with China, and America will regain its greatness.

It’s offensive to refer to our sons and daughters; that have VOLUNTEERED to defend U.S. as anything but first class!

You stated "Let us know when the first Americans are in combat." and we have an active American "volunteer" force in there now. You asked.. I complied.

And for further edification, there are US active duty personnel listed as "inspectors" in Ukraine currently.

My mistake. I would never purposely disparage a patriot of this country. I wore the uniform and so have my children.

If you are sending troops to the front line to show strength, then you send the best of the best. Active Duty represent substantially better prepared troops than the IRR. That is fact.

So, your saying it's not going to have any effect on anything and it's not a sign of escalation, but it needed to be done. Makes sense I'm sure in Biden's brain. Do tell us what else does Putin think, seems like you have a handle of how he views things.

Biden's bribed by Oligarchs on both sides of war. He has no moral authority on these matters.

So when Russia amassed soldiers on the Ukranian border, Biden was not sane to claim it was escalation?

Your personal jabs speak of your weakness and immaturity.

Until 2021, Russia didn't have any soldiers in Ukraine, only proxies. Between 2015 and 2021 the conflict was much more like a Civil War following the Minsk Agreements.

See, you made silly tempered response and now you can't walk it back so you keep attacking.

Think before you type and that wouldn't happen so much.

Then let me restate: let us know when American military personnel start firing weapons in Ukraine.

I’m saying it won’t be seen as an “escalation”. Primarily because they aren’t going to Ukraine and they will not be engaging in combat.
The Biden haters need to hate this because Joe Biden did it. And the Russia lovers (like much of MAGA) hate it because they would gladly let Putin take all of Ukraine.

That's almost the most moronic post to any topic I've seen all week, comrade....

It's not as dumb as Fox and others pushing that idiot claiming Biden's tweet about wage growth contained a factual error, but it's dangerously close...

Again, I disagree. Our reserves aren’t over there sitting in their hooch playing video games. They are training with THE best equipped, most experienced military in the world. Experience is hard won and MUST be passed on. That’s how to STAY the best.

Before Putin invaded Ukraine a friend, x-Navy Officer, commented, about our troop build up, at breakfast one morning, “I wonder how much it’s costing to send those guys over there?” I replied, not a GD dime. They have to be somewhere and, what a great deployment exercise opportunity for them; you can’t buy that kind of experience.

What a great opportunity for these 3K young men and women. I’m sure they will be learning a lot, from experienced troops, some of which may save their lives someday. This is win - win for those troops and America; WE win all around.

We can agree to disagree on just about every point you have made. I didn't have discussion with former military, but with current military with boots on the ground in eastern Europe. Their boots.

My point was former military, EVEN officers, don’t always recognize the need for CONSTANT training. Or training opportunities when they present themselves.

Those reserve troops are gaining invaluable experience RightByGodNow, when it costs very little and, no lives are at stake.

It’s much better that they learn to deploy and are teamed with experienced troops NOW; than in a critical situation when it may be their life and OUR country on the line.

I think this was an excellent decision. A rare opportunity capitalized on.

Our enemies have no idea the experience they are up against when they face The United States Military. No other nation in the world can match OUR Military’s capabilities and EXPERIENCE.

"Blah blah blah, you're dumb" is the response you come up with?

    And we're done.

I don't have the time or energy to debate facts with people of such low caliber.

    Have a good one.

Our enemies know more than you, me, and everyone else on this site. And nukes level all playing fields. And if the proverbial "stuff" hits the fan in eastern Europe, I can assure you those 3,000 troops will be a failure.

    That’s probably true.
Which assumes they work equally well from one nation to another. Which is a poor assumption.
There again you only think you know what you’re talking about.

Those 3K troops will perform admirably and, be better for the experience gained from this deployment.

You don’t seem to have much faith in our command staff. You appear to believe they have sent 3,000 soldiers on a tourist outing. I assure you that isn’t the case. Those troops will be watched and instructed every step along the way. They WILL come out of this better prepared to do their jobs, whatever that may be. And certainly better prepared than if they hadn’t been deployed.
