Please just hurry up and shut down the police stations.

Curious why “just follow the law” doesn’t seem to be applied consistently

I hope these George Floyd protests settle down soon. We need to get back to our normal lives and move on. Derek Chauvin and his three other cops or should I say ex-police get what they deserve and I just hope that Justice will be served. Not all police officers are trigger happy like to use force bad apples. We need to know all that. Police enforce the law because it's part of their job and that means all of them.

Fifty-seven members of the Buffalo Police Department resigned from a special squad Friday to protest the suspension of two officers shown on video shoving a 75-year-old protester to the ground, causing him to hit his head on the sidewalk and suffer a serious injury, officials said.

The footage, shot by local NPR affiliate WBFO on Thursday evening, shows the man walking up to uniformed officers in Buffalo’s Niagara Square during an anti-police-brutality demonstration after George Floyd’s death. The officers, who had begun enforcing curfew, yell what sounds like “move!” and “push him back!” One officer can be seen pushing the man with an outstretched arm, while another shoves a baton into him. A third officer appears to shove colleagues toward the man.

The man falls to the ground. His head whips backward onto the pavement, and then he lies motionless.

“He’s bleeding out of his ear!” someone yells as blood pools beneath the man’s head.

The officers then keep walking, leaving the man on the ground, before two state police officers step in to render aid.

On Friday, the police department’s entire emergency response team resigned from the squad in protest of their colleagues’ suspension, according to several local news reports. The team was formed in 2016 to respond to civic unrest.
The 75-year-old man identified is Martin Gugino by a group called People United for Sustainable Housing, In Buffalo,NY

If those 57 leave the force they are exercising their choice to do so.
If they say it is a form of protest so what?

Some of them are the type to look the other way bad apples. We need to get rid of them too.

Have I offended a you? If you didn't keep putting a chip snowflakes on your shoulder, maybe the slightest breeze wouldn't trigger you.

    Lighten up, Francis.

I don't know about the ones that look the other way. If they are to look straight ahead, that would be their job I suppose.

Indeed. If they don't like the suspension of fellow officers for pushing an old man over, and are part of the group that then appeared to shuffle past him as blood poured from his ear the citizens of Buffalo might well be better off and safer without them.

Then what does Buffalo do for law enforcement?

Try to recruit other law enforcement officers I would imagine.

You realize they're talking about the City PD's not the County Sheriffs?
See Camden New Jersey which did the same thing so it didn't have to worry about the public sector police union.

Why do you support public sector unions? You some kind of psuedo-communist?

I dunno. We're on a topic about a police brutality especially aimed against black people on a backdrop of the US history where the white community violently oppressed the black population and little has changed. And than somebody casually makes a racist stereotype, calls me a snowflake when calling out on it. Seems we got ourselves a person who is part of the problem. That's kind of it.

Are you trying to insinuate that white people are never the victims of police brutality, despite all of the evidence to the contrary?

Are you one of those anti-white racists?

I don't know whether it would be a good idea if Minneapolis were to dismantle their police force because of one bad apple cop murdering an innocent man. If those kind of problems of bad apple cops killing off innocent black people became a problem and if it were to happen too often, then it might be considered but one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch does it? C'mon here! think about it! It isn't every day that those kind of things happen that often. I just hope Minneapolis knows what it is doing. Doing something like this. It might be a good thing or a bad thing. Who knows what the outcome will be. We'll have to wait and see.

Your animosity towards "white" people is notable because it belies a bigoted anti-white racist sentiment. One of the 4 cops who murdered George Floyd was SE Asian, not white. And Another one of them looked to be of North African or Middle Eastern heritage. But you are not complaining about them. Your bigoted hatred seems specifically directed at white people.

Why do you hate white people so much?

Nonsense, the nation isn’t racist as a whole. Systemic racism is a lie. Whites are more abused by blacks than the reverse. These are objectively true.

Now that George Floyd had his funeral and burial in Houston, I suppose the protests will settle down. Now the trial will get underway and we all hope for a conviction for Derek Chauvin and his other cohorts that did nothing to stop this. I hope we don't hear anymore Police brutality resulting in injury and/or death or anything else where we'd be protesting all over again. We don't need to dismantle any Police forces here, We need them to enforce the laws so we can all live better. Support and respect the local police department in your town.

It seems to me that @notme really hates white people. Am I the only one who gets that impression?

I don't judge by the color of one's race, creed, or anything else especially color of one's skin. I judge by content of character. That's what we should all do, if we all want to get along. I mean everyone period.

Now that George Floyd has been buried in Houston, If Derek Chauvin wants any respect from any of us, when the time comes to make a plea, Chauvin should plead guilty, If he pleads not guilty, he's a coward and that's all I'm going to say.
