parents need to step it up with respect to scrutinizing who is around their kids. I don't care how "offended" the person gets, it's time to demand background information about teachers, coaches, troop leaders etc etc

To the OP, what it's "time for" is adding child molestation to capital offenses. They cannot be fixed... this is acknowledged by the rare people trying to "fix" the problem. They are broken, and must be removed from society... and are truly deserving of the punishment... and THEY will never destroy another child... then we don't need expensive background checks. If they raped a child in the past they are dead or on death row, not applying for a position.

America has tried locking people up for really long times and executing them, yet it fails to do much to lower the crime rate. Liberal Europe fares at least as well as we do without the excessive sentencing.

The death penalty has one result which cannot be denied... a low recidivism rate. We as a people should determine what makes the list. Murder is bad... it should be there... but there are in fact worse things than dying. Raping a child is on my list...

Its difficult to tell who's a pedophile because many of them are very charming and likable and they use that to fool adults and seduce children. People think, he's such a nice fellow, he can't do anything bad.

 

Yet there are plenty of child abusers, and being sick as they are, many likely won't be deterred by the death penalty. They may be encouraged to be more careful about avoiding detection and capture, though.

Child abuse is monstrous, yes, but I just don't want to see a harsh reaction that won't actually do much good, and may actually end up having unforeseen negative consequences.

 

Men did coach my daughters sports, but there wasn't any overnight camping trips w/then, like in the BS or any kind of privacy w/the coach - and I had started talking to my daughters when they were around 3-4 about 'good touching, bad touching'........

I think parents, w/all their good intentions to be good parents, fail to talk to their kids about that, which certainly makes it easy for the pedophiles......

Another pedophile is caught.... off to prison he goes for awhile, but the penetentaries for them always have revolving doors. He'll be out soon enuf to repeat - they always do.

There are red flags to watch for. Don't get sucked in by 'charm and likeability' and watch his behavior around children....

One sure sign is when Mr. Charm always likes to have a child or a particular child sit on his lap......that's a dead giveaway.

Pays more than the usual amount of attention to children or a certain one and touches their bare skin a lot. They love the feel of smooth, hairless skin.
