They have no respect for life in the fact that if they kill someone, they think they there is an after life that the person they kill is going to, and they them themselves will go to.

Atheist on the other hand, know that if we kill someone, that that life is permanently gone and that we have ruined our only chance at life.

The OP's article is a good example of this. Kill his ex? No problem, there is an after life, Go to jail? No problem, Who needs this life anyways?

And by the way, 59% of Spanish and 74% of Italians claim a belief in 'god'. And a belief in god does not constitute christianity.

As I stated before, it's not that simple. You just can't go and kill someone and then ask for forgiveness and think that murder is automatically wiped clean in God's eyes. It's not. A person has to be truly sorry for what he did. He would have to turn his life around. Just saying I'm sorry doesn't cut it.

I'm sure the Church has it's own version of the events, and I doubt they discussed the particulars with him either. They did make him a saint though, and there is no denying he was the first Emperor to accept Christianity while still respecting the practices of the Pagans, and it was on his watch where many of their beliefs began to merge, and one example is as early Christianity was mixed with pagan practices it led to the 'official' adoption of Sunday as the official day of rest and worship by the Church.
