Thanks skeptic for the info on aid to Egypt.
Considering the whole picture, I have to say that Egyptians are more heroic and concerned with Truth, Mercy and Faith than the USA who cowers at the feet of their Saudi/Israeli masters.

I'm curious Talon....how do you feel about John Kerry and Obama seeming to want Morsi put back in office?

I think it's a really bad and misguided move, Goldie. The Egyptian rightly people see this as unsolicited and unwanted interference in their own affairs that runs contrary to their popular will and sovereignty. This is only going to stir up unnecessary resentment against our country which is going to have negative effects on many levels.

The best thing the Obama Administration can do right now is step back, keep its mouth shut and let the Egyptians sort this out themselves.

BTW, is that Joshua Chamberlain in your avatar?

I don't have mixed emotions. I'm glad the army took over. Same thing happened in Germany during the 1930's. Time to stop tyranny in the bud...

That is true. Thanks for your take on this. I also said that I thought the military made the right choice, thay are ultimately protecting the democratic process long term.

Sorry, to digress, but as Talon is seemingly a man of exquisite musical taste, I'm reminded of this awesome track. I hope the mods will excuse me of this one minor indulgence:

One of Obama's huge foreign policy problems is his naive assumption that people from vastly different political and socio economic systems will "get him".

How inspiring Obama's hopes for positive change may be...they are of little use to Egyptians when they're slugging and shooting it out in the streets for their survival.

It is. He was a great man from a time where being a gentleman meant something. And I don't just admire him for what he did on Little Round Top. There are lot's of other examples of his class

Hey, hey, hey, HEY! THE QUIZ is based on FACTS that every American should know about the Muslim Brotherhood's takeover of America. Even though they can't seem to take over Egypt, where they are based.

Yes, apparently taking over the United States will be an easier task than Egypt for the Ikhwan.

Obama has been breathtakingly naive on many levels. It's been on full display since he delivered his speech in Cairo in 2009. He admitted long ago that he was no foreign policy expert and now he's getting mixed up in one of the most complicated and convoluted regions on the planet. He simply isn't up to the task before him, and the people around him aren't compensating for his shortcomings. It's not a good situation.

Chamberlain was a great man, indeed.

    You're not following me, Goldie.

Why did they hate us in the late 1700s and early 1800s when we had no presence in the region? Why were they attacking American ships, and killing and enslaving their crews and passengers? We were a small, brand new nation that hadn't done anything to the people who were attacking us.

The answer is in the conversation that took place in 1785 between Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman of Tripoli. Look it up.

Again, all the bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that led to the Barbary Wars (our first war abroad) occurred before the U.S. had a presence in the Middle East and long before the modern state of Israel came into existence.

Because they were pirates. There is no 'they.' There is no equivalence between why 'they' hate you now, and why some Muslim factions in North Africa 'hated' you a few hundred years ago.

That wasn't hatred, Talon; that was business. There has been piracy in that part of the world (Western North Africa) for at least 2500 years and the Muslims didn't stop the practice, as it was a source of loot and slaves. The fact that they were victimizing infidels was just a bonus.

They didn't hate you, they were Pyrates and where able to attack your ships when you no longer had the protection of the British.

What!? The Military seized power from the Conservatives in favor of a Liberal Government and Liberal Constitution. They might not believe in Christianity, but they were still the Conservative half of the Population which were in the process of Suppressing The Liberal Half. Since your screen name is 'NeverLeft', I find it perplexing that you would support the Liberals here since most of your Brethren complain about how Sinister Liberals are.

Good, I hope that the Egyptian military kills every last one of those Muslim Brotherhood mother(*)(*)(*)(*)ers. Egypt is one of those rare cases where the military is actually one of the better choices in running the country. Mubarak was corrupt so the people wanted him out and the military kicked him out. Morsi and the Muslim Bastardhood were all "We are going to war with Israel" and the Egyptian military kicked their sorry asses out because they didn't want to have thousands of soldiers dying needlessly because the stupid Muslims decide to go on a Jihad against the most powerful country in the Middle East.

So it looks like we might have to intervene in Egypt if the violence continues. Good thing it's only one Middle Eastern country that's experiencing a civil war. Not some other country that might not have as much value to it.

Conservatism in America is a far different animal that it is in Egypt. In Egypt it is an Islamic state with out liberty and freedom but alot of Tyranny, as it is in Arabia. I am an actual American liberal, not a progressive leftist that has hi-jacked liberalism as camoflauge for their neo-communism like MaO'Bama, Reed, and Pelosi.

We are already intervening in Egypt. People get slaughtered with weapons made in the USA. We have supported BOTH sides in the conflict. And the USA claims Egypt is of huge importance, and has value. Territorially, it's a critical point in the world's crossroads, especially the water passage, plus our "friends" Israel live by there.

When I said intervening, I meant more directly, but yes we have been supplying the Egyptian army with supplies. Almost makes you wonder what role the US had in ousting Morsi, or if the US had a role at all.

We just want to sell weapons to help our offense contractor buddies make money. The free "military aid" handouts merely get spent to US weapon makers.

We gave military aid to BOTH this military "government" (The USA has declared they will CONTINUE this) as well as the Morsi regime!! Satan himself could take over Egypt and we would give him free weapons.

Ironically, it's supposed to help keep the peace between Egypt and Israel.

How many of those more regular arms from Qadaffi's caches (AKs, grenades, submachine guns) are still floating around Libya? This could be a very important question if the Muslim Brotherhood decides to launch a "liberation movement" in Egypt, as Libya shares a land and sea border with Egypt and it could be a strong source of arms for potential rebels.
